Discovery Vitality [2018]

Anyone having issues with points not calculating from fitness activities? Garmin device linked to Vitality. The activities are showing up in the points tracker so the data is going from Garmin to Vitality but no points are being attributed

No issues here. Last synced earlier this morning and points are showing.

Very bizarre - mine last synced on 15 Feb

Strange... Perhaps give them a call and log a query.

Here is a screenshot from my last 3 days:

Parkrun a few weeks ago.. woodlands while gf was pissed with me fighting haha.. that route is slightly more uphill in parts.

Mind ye if I am tired my HR can drop down to 29-35bpm. Weird..

I use to cycle a lot, now I do a LOT of treadmill runs.. wait lemme pull up one of those..

5km in 56 minutes is not the 10km in 50 minutes we were discussing... The one is a stroll the other is a pretty fast run

-from the 2017 thread-
How so? Polar Beat also allow you to see your average HR in real time, so you should be able to do the same thing I do with the M400. At least thats how I used to use it, before the M400.

Set it to show HR in % instead of bpm and then show the average and current HR with whatever else on the display you want.
@Tinuva, I could not find where to get it to show the average, help please :)

Ah you mean 10km.. that’s different to 10k steps which is about 5-7km

Click on the 75% to get to show the average.

I'm with you StrontiumDog, does not show average, but converts from % to actual BPM - every kilometre you get the average for that kilometre, which sometimes means I have to perform mental arithmetic to check whether I'm going to make it :-)

I'm looking for 2 active rewards team members. PM if you are interested.

Vitality newbie here,

I started on Discovery with my company this year and opt'd in for Vitality,
But to be honest I know only the little I read on the discovery site.

So I am asking for pointers of what I need to do,

I have a fitbit ( I liked via the app )
I gym at goHealth every day, I see they are a small touch screen on the gym floor but don't know what I need to do with it?
I eat healthy, but I don't keep any store cards, only use my FNB credit card for fuel and shopping.

I am planning on flying to America later this year, and after reading about discounts on flights I decided to get Vitality, but I don't really know how to benefit from it!

Well, the Fitbit will help you get points. If you can push your HR above a certain threshold (above 70/80%) for over half an hour, you will get about 200/300 points. If you make 10k in steps for the day, it's 100. Those points will help build towards your annual goal of achieving Gold (and eventually Diamond) status.

Sign up for the HealthyFood option (on the website) and shop your healthy foods at PnP or Woolworths (pick one of both). If you have done the health check and answered the quiz on the Discovery website, you can get up to 25% off on healthy food items back in cash from your selected food place (you can select two but the second one is only up to 10%, I think). For every healthy food item, it's about 20 points (up to a limit) that goes towards your Vitality points. If your basket came with unhealthy food items, they will take points off though (but it can't go negative).

If you can get to Gold status before you fly, maybe you will be able to qualify for discount Emirates flights but the maximum discount would come from you being on Diamond (only achievable if you make Gold for three years in a row).

Hope this helps you get started.

As lws said, the main thing is to start racking up the points so you can get to Gold as quickly as possible, to maximise the discount on an Emirates flight to the USA (and all of the other Vitality benefits!)

The first thing to do is book a Health Check at a Clicks or Dischem. You can earn 20,000pts in one go if all of your numbers are in the correct range. And you need to have done a Health Check plus an online "Vitality Age" assessment on the website, in order to get the full 25% HealthyFood discount at either PnP or Woolworths (you choose which one). You will have to get a HealthyFood card, which you swipe at the till. Then pay for your food with cash or your FNB credit card as usual. Your 25% cashback will be paid into your bank account once a month. And you can earn up to 1000 points per month - 20 pts per item of Healthy Food, but you lose 20 points for every unhealthy item.

Go to the Discovery website, click on Vitality at the top and then Track and Earn points. Go through the page carefully and it will tell you all the things you can do to earn points.

You need to make the flight booking at least 6 weeks before your date of travel. But even if you haven't achieved Gold by then, you should at least be Silver, which is still a 25% discount on the base fare of the flight. Gold would get you 30%.

Just to give you an idea - I'm already on 36000 points, just from my Health Check and fitness activities.

What’s the most people have gotten back from from gym booster? Curious as I only got R80 back

I get R131.25 back each month for reaching all of my goals (100%).

Remember there’s a 6 month cooling off period before you can use the travel benefit if you just joined.
