But you’ll get much more than that. Eg. I if I spend R2,000 on Healthy Food in a month, I get 8,000 miles back (assuming I’m at 40% with bank. 5000 if one has health only).

Edit: See attached example from Discovery. Miles will add up very quickly.
So you get dMiles 5000 for doing your health check, @ies87 you did yours recently will they back date you for the miles.im due to do mine before the end of the month,so should I wait till next week for the new miles integration?

Is that only for Bank clients, or also for old Credit Card clients who have activated the Miles benefit?
Good question,I have their new Credit card and their free vitality savings. Maybe it's if you have their full banking account?
They get my hopes up for nothing

They said they'll backdate. It's only 2,500 though. 2,500 more for achieving goals related to your health check.

2020 Discoverer mentions that it's an integration between bank and health. So I think you do need bank. It just mentions a 'qualifying account' but doesn't specify what that account is.

The Discovery Integrator has officially been launched according to their homepage. Almost no information there though but I assume that, as long as you have a miles account with bank, you qualify. The site mentions linking your bank account and health plan though, no idea how you do that - Health Banking?

EDIT: I called them - you link bank with health by activating Health Banking. My miles should have come through instantly, they have logged a query as to why I didn't get them.

@ies87 Isnt it automatically linked? Or do we have to do something ourselves online to link bank with health?

You have to link it manually on the bank app under more > Health Banking.

No, there's no multiplier like with eBucks. The person wants to buy 11.5 miles for a rand, which means they'll spend R10 on 115 miles. 115 miles will buy them R11.50 of goods, so they are trying to get R11.50 of goods for spending R10.

There is or was now. I used to use my miles to boost my retirement investment by 400%.

So, it is worthwhile keeping 100 points and getting them converted or should I just spend them?
1 vitality rewards point is equivalent to about R1. You'll get only 6 Discovery miles per point and 15 miles is equivalent to R1.

So if you don't spend your rewards points you will lose more than 50% of the value of your points

Discovery are screwing us.

Yes but we don't know exactly how much miles will be needed to make a purchase eg for a Vida cafe drink Currently it's 25 points = R25 ,how many miles will it be to purchase that? We have a estimate from their brochures

Do you have a link to the brochure that has some clues? It just doesn't make sense that we would be able to order a R40 drink with R15 worth of Discovery Miles. Discovery Miles have a set value range of around R1 = 10 to 15 Miles.

Exactly. I asked them on WhatsApp, and was told "For now, we have not as yet had an indication of the actual Miles value per reward as this would be confirmed when the system changes over on 11/01/2020". I'm fuming. So there's no way to decide ahead of time whether it's better to exchange points for vouchers now, or to wait for the changeover.

I used to be such a champion for Discovery, trumpeting their benfits to all and sundry. I'm so disappointed and pissed off lately with the lack of clarity on everything. Ebucks here I come - or maybe ditch the rewards entirely and go for the cheapest bank account and CC I can find... Capitec and Virgin here I come?

I'd still say eBucks then, no way capitec paying you hundreds of rands every month to bank there.

After bank charges I clear 800 to 900 a month, I know guy who are clearing over 4k a month in eBucks.

The nice thing is if you use the calculator a thumb suck can give you a good idea in like 2 minutes but if u that way inclined you could pull your current statements, spend like 30 minutes doing the math and then have a really good idea.

With discovery it's "pay us R300 a month and maybe, if you lucky, you'll get something out"

I have actually seen a conversion somewhere. Just need to think where.
