Discovery Vitality 2023

Wait, how does this work:
- the minimum spend points required to achieve the spend goal is 1 (so you must spend at least R10 per week to earn that 1 point and achieve the goal)
- the maximum spend goals are, for example, 750 points (for black) if you spend 750 *10 = R7500 per week

so if you don't spend R10 in a week you don't achieve the goal and if you spend more than R7500 you don't achieve the goal. The goal unlocks a gameboard play and is separate to the rate at which you earn discovery miles.

So the idea is to keep your spend between R10 and R7500 per week if you're on black?

Or am I misinterpreting this?

No. You don’t get penalised for overspending. Basically your goals will start low like 1 points then increases each week you achieve your goals.

Similar to active rewards being cap at 900 points. Now it’s cap based on the product you have. Which is 750 for black.

Yes eventually. But you will probably start small. Like maybe R100 but will ramp up to 5k.
That's an insane amount for me a single person to spend per week. I primarily am worried beacuse of rhr iPhone benefit, so if I don't achieve my money goal I'm gonna be paying for it

Yea you will probably pay for it for some months. Maybe 15%~20% of the iPhone value. Some months have 5 weeks. Which might give you some breathing room.

Could someone confirm how the vitality active gear fitness device benefit works

Is it 50% off the first R4000 so R2000 off or is it 50% off whatever the price is up to a maximum of R4000 off?

For the apple watch benefit. I have a full discovery bank suite but i am only on the cheap vitality (R99 a month). Am i excluded from getting the apple watch benefit? Searched high and low and cant find where to activate it on the bank or discovery app. T&C i can find just say you need vitality active rewards activated which i do but when i try the browser on discovery website when logged into my profile it just gets me a server error when i follow the link to activate it.

No, when under health goals i only have the option to "get a fitness device" but those are the low end watches. Dont have any option for available boosters

Hi guys, question with regards to discovery miles:
Firstly I dont have a discovery bank account, only vitality. Is it possible to send my Miles to someone else? Discovery told me that without the Discovery bank account I can only spend miles in the Vitality mall..

There is a new discovery bank account that only have a virtual card which is R0/month prepaid account, only available to discovery vitality members. Once you open that account, you can send miles and spend them on dday with about 10-20% discount on those days.

You also need this account if you want discount on flights now.

For active rewards goals/points how does discovery handle discrepancies between a fitness tracker (i.e., garmin) and a smartwatch (i.e., iphone).

Say I don't always carry my phone on me and it tracks 6000 steps but I wear my watch the whole day and it tracks 11000 steps. Would discovery take the greater of the two and award the 100 points?

Both apps are synced with discovery.

Has anyone else been experiencing issues of points not syncing over the last with the VAR system?

I can see my workouts have synced with Vitality however VAR states that my goals have not been achieved.

To answer my own question, it takes the highest.

e.g., on Sunday I was recorded to have earned 50 points via apple and 100 points via Garmin. I was awarded the 100 points.

Yep. Last week did not sync. Just be patient, it will happen.

The odd thing about it is the workouts from Saturday till today are showing but workouts from last week Tuesday to Friday are still not synced.

Will read through this, and other data. But a quick, practical question:

Changing jobs from 1 December. New employer only does Discovery. I have been with Momentum and Multiply for the past 6 years. What are the main differences bewteen Multiply/Vitality to be aware of?
I am thinking about active days, etc. On Multiply I have been on top tier of the rewards program.
