none at the moment, however, i want to see what the apple mini home pod thing costs when it lands in SA

You misunderstand.

There is no Siri support for tvOS devices (which HomePod is part of) in SA.

You cannot use Siri at all, which is why the HomePod isn’t sold here as it relies entirely on Siri.

Maybe with the newer cheaper one that will now finally change.
There's also no built in Siri support for my Sonoff devices which places it firmly in the no category.

If you have a phone you have one already.
I was speaking to one of my dogs the other day when my phone piped up & the lady from google asked some question.
They are always listening..

Only a Google Mini that I won from MyBB a couple of years ago.
Seems to be doing a decent job now that it is properly linked up with Home Assistant.

I dont understand the appeal of these smart speakers? I have a radio and also a bluetooth speaker, and I just play what i want from the phone or the radio, sometimes even those DSTV music channels.

Maybe because i dont have a lot of home automation kit, there is no need for a smart speaker?

I get lots of use from Alexa from Spotify, controlling the lights and setting timers in the kitchen etc, but even without the home automation stuff a smart speaker is a great tool for streaming radio from other countries and is worth it to me just for that alone.

I have Google Home, but I dont use it, I dont want Google recording everything I do.

I already gave away my Alexia. You welcome to buy the Google Home off me :D

Just blown my spare cash on an Alexa Echo Dot :(

Otherwise I might have taken you up on it. Going to take enough stick from my SO, for the Echo Dot, never mind a second one. She will not appreciate that they are different items.

Just do like I do. Enter all the competitions and win prizes. I won both the Alexia and Google Home here.

Have echo dots around the house.
1 in the lounge, 1 in each bedroom (kids love it. Rain sounds when they go to bed and their music getting up in the morning)

Checking out Amazon prime specials, as want an Echo show 5 or 8 for the kitchen

I enter them all, when I see them, and have been targeting both the Amazon Echo Dot and the Google Smart Mini competitions specifically.

Then this morning I win R1000.00 , which has been commited to an Amazon Echo Dot.

Not stock Sonoff no.

My Sonoffs are all Siri compatible.

Alexa is going to piss me off with the lack of Apple Music support. I know it already.

On the money.

I laugh at all the people I know who have all these smart speakers but no smart home to use it with.

Meanwhile I have quite a smart home by now and the smart speaker is the last thing to go into it really. Pointless to do it the other way round.
