Don't upgrade your cellphone now

Mine is supposed to be next month, and I would see no reason to wait if I was going to upgrade, but seeing as cheap cellphones do a reasonable job of allowing me to send and receive text messages, and even handle the odd call, whatever is already out there is just fine. Having seen how much of my airtime rolls over every month, I have concluded that I am spending too much on communication, so I may just pay the cancellation penalty [if there is one], and return to being a prepaid customer.

Works for me.

But I'm creative ... I must wait for the new iPhone ;)

Well not really, more to do with not wanting to give up on iOS/Vodacom VVM. This feature alone is worth more than any amount of cores/widgets/customizations etc. for me.

Bullc%$p. BB, iPhone, Lumnia are all pieces of worthless p00. Just get an Android and stop worrying new and better phones, the old ones still receive updates and keep up with the newest tech.

I wish someone would tell Samsung ZA that... still waiting for ICS update for my Galaxy Tab 10.1. And before you ask, yes I've rooted it, etc - the ROMs out there are poo. The very fact I have to resort to rooting to upgrade is the reason I've gone off Android. Won't be getting back into that OS until they do something about the woeful state of upgrades.

With my upgrade in November it will be a tossup between the iPhone 5 or SIII, but I'm leaning towards the iPhone 5. There is no way I will touch another Nokia product...let alone one run by Windows.

Your loss - that's where most the innovation's happening nowdays!

Don't forget the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus coming in November (if last year's launch date was anything to go by)!

One mans loss is another mans gain. Personally...I wouldn't touch another Nokia or Windows device with a bargepole

Nokia is the sensible choice IMO. Good after sales support, sturdy handsets guaranteed and tried and tested. Produced the best smartphone ever according to Siri, wireless charging (Nokia is going to make this mainstream), PureView, WP8 - that just about sums all its advantages. And Oh, it doesn't look anything like Apple's devices through and through.

Still interested on how 'worth it' the Sony Xperia S is to upgrade to - should MTN finally start selling it - and on that note - when the <expletive> are MTN going to give info on it? That said - Sony is expected to launch the Xperia T this month - how long will that then take to get to MTN since that's meant to be the new flagship.... *shrug*

Nokia make good phones no doubt but I wouldn't call WP8 an advantage just yet. MS have a habit if screwing over partners. And what they did with WP7 shows just how.

So CHEAP :), is this offer still available?

I am due for an upgrade (long overdue) on my CellC contract and want the S3 as i am currently using an 8520 since 3 years ago. I am salivating for some touch screen goodness of my own.

The quoted deal in the article from MTN seems good but how would i be able to take it if using an existing CellC contract? Where will number portability play a role here? I have an idea how but i rather hear from the experts :). Basically i want to keep my existing 084 number and free minutes not a deal breaker unless anytime minutes for emergencies.

+1 thanks Hilton

Try this link. Select the SIII on the Straight Up 100, and just upsize the data dependant on your needs. Still quite affordable I think.

what did you smoke, you can mention "receive upgrade" and "Android" on the same sentence

I will not get an iPhone. Doesn't appeal to me to have access to a limited online South African app store.

Won't be going Nokia anytime soon. Just not feeling it!

Blackberry is dying! No thank you!

Played around with the HTC One X yesterday! A MINT PHONE!!! Still have my eye on it!
