Doogee Mix

Ok, I got some nano sim's this weekend and ran dual sim's and wifi the whole weekend. There was an ota update also to be done. By sunday evening I still had 45% battery left. Not bad for the weekend. I expect this week to chew the battery as coms vary around the farm. But I expect every second day charging.

Device is fast, screen can be read well in bright sunshine, and I even got my ram used up to 3Gb. That's only half way!!! Not much of a phone camera guy, but pics are good enough for IM. I can hear the phone ring while riding the motorbike. Calls are clear (when not riding). Callers can hear me perfectly.
Build quality?

Build quality?

Usual Doogee build quality, excellent. Doogee definitely has good strong (if not a bit heavier) phones. I have had numerous models over the last few years (my wife, my son and me, not just me) and all have been very well built.

That's good to know.

Very tempted to get this, but ZUK Z2 is still fine lol

Still loving mine. I have had 3 guys in the office ask me what phone I am using. They walk past my desk and then pick up the phone and cant understand what phone it is. when I tell them the specs and what I paid they are amazed. The one guy now wants to buy one also.

Not bad this device.. But I'm okay with the OnePlus One. So many nice Chinese branded devices at a fraction of the cost of the more expensive devices. Not sure why people are so obsessed with Apple and Samsung

After a long wait I finally got my phone yesterday. Delayed in Singapore for 2 weeks, then 3 weeks at JIMC, then another week travelling back and forth between PMB and Durban hubs for some unknown reason.

It is very NICE. Feels good in the hand. I was worried that the bigger screen would make it clumsy, but the frame is so small that it feels "normal". It is fast even when running Go Launcher.

Now I just have to go and get a nano SIM as both slots are nano. With 64Gb on board memory I'm unlikely to need a SD card. My primary IM is Telegram and media is stored on the cloud rather than the device. I have a good camera so won't be using the phone camera for much more than quick pics for work stuff or IM.

After installing a bunch of apps I still have more than 4Gb RAM left. I guess some will get used up during normal working conditions.

Let's see if I can not destroy this on in the next 8 months or its back to my trusty T5.

What was you total cost at the end?

I paid R2350 + R450 deilvery + R60 vat/duty = R3K for the 6/64Gb model (Rounded figures)

Speed depends on the shipping methods that are available. I bought from Banggood (only online store to do pre orders) and was very unimpressed with their delivery times. I normally use Geekbuying and get packages within 2 weeks and normally delivery is cheaper.

I don't see the value of using a 3rd party to get my items. It just adds to the costs. I do use Aramex global Shopper when companies don't ship to SA.

I've used it now for 4 working days. As suspected the battery usage has gone up, but there is still 60%+ left at night.

Fast charging is available if you are using GoLauncher Prime, but I turn it off and just charge my battery every night. We have signal issues out in the sticks. If the tower goes down completely (often happens) then your battery can get eaten up. If I have 60% at 8pm and the signal goes out, the by 4pm it's less than 20%.

I'm in two minds about notification LEDs. They are nice but I seldom need that option. On the plus side my room doesn't light up at 2am when I get an email. Lack of LED is not a reason for me to pass over a phone. It is not important to my day to day use of the phone.

The camera is not an issue. For R3k phone I don't expect the camera to work as well as my R15K camera with a R10k lens. Works just fine for IM and making notes. If you want professional pictures and video then use a proper camera. You wouldn't expect your camera to have LTE.

NFC - not that many phones out there have it anyway especially budget phones. The same for USB C. They are becoming popular though. Just like when phones first started using usb, or Nokia using 3 different sizes.

i was interested in this after watching unbox therapy but seems aliexpress only ship via slow mail for this phone, no dhl or fedex options :(

would be nice if pophong stocked this but they dont

@ScottulusMaximus any chance you would be able to give us a +/- figure on shipping to JHB (courier to door) from china via aliexpress ?

Noooooo!!!! They will become like the Xiaome phones. Over priced compared to direct imports. Even with a local warranty. I will not pay 150% of the import price just to have a warranty on a phone I'll discard in 8 - 12 months anyway. I'll take that risk.
