Why DStv is automatically adding Disney+ to subscriber accounts

MultiChoice has again confused subscribers by automatically adding a free Disney+ service to some customers' bills in September 2023.

Through a partnership with the Walt Disney Company, the pay-TV broadcaster allows subscribers to add the video streaming service to their monthly DStv bills instead of paying it directly using a bank card.

Disney trying to boost subscriber numbers any way they can ?

I wouldn't watch any of their junk, and that goes for Showmax as well, even if it was bolted on free for 3 months.

3 months is enough to watch Every single decent show in Disney+. So basically Disney+ and DStv is giving you free Marvel and Star Wars for 3 months. Thanks Multichoice you doochenozels.

I also got this Disney+ activation sms. I thought my account got hacked somehow.
While it's there, the kids will watch what they can for the 3 free months, but definitely won't renew myself.

Just be careful with those links, very often your device will give you a link preview and if the web dev is a bit of a chop and does not have a confirmation button simply opening the link will activate the link, which is what a link preview does.

I can't confirm this as I have never received this message, but my iPhone does preview links.

Lol imagine spending all that time on the phone to remove a service that is free and optional to use.....
... thanks to Multichoice for not being upfront about the terms and conditions.

Imagine thinking MultiChoice is in the business of handing out freebies with no strings attached?

DSTV has revenue share from cellphone calls to their support. That is why they always put you on hold for an hour before they talk to you.

I pay my parents dstv bill and saw this month that Disney was added. I've been trying for the last two weeks to get it removed. No notification or a heads up that it will be added.

They say you must use your dstv account telephone number to create an account on Disney. But neither that works.

I don't have dstv reward enabled on the portal. There is no way to remove the service through dstv billing..

I don't want this disney+ kek.

And how exactly are people supposed to know that when multichoices call centre doesn't even know what's going on? You just get a SMS saying a new product was activated or you happen to see it on your account and there is zero info on why its suddenly there.

Showmax really isn't bad. To be honest, I find myself watching more shows on Showmax than Netflix.

It does grind my gears that they banned Leon Schuster content though, and surprisingly it didn't make me ditch Showmax.

Fair enough, but given how many people don't ****ing read I wouldn't be surprised if they were told about it in an email before it was added. I don't have sympathy for people who get into situations like this because they couldn't be bothered to read. Then again I don't have any sympathy for DSTV subscribers either

People, please be aware of this and check your bill.
DSTV have charge me R31.38 for this "free" Disney Plus subscription add-on that I haven't asked for.
@Jan , can you look into this? Please see attached image.
