Recently I've had several instances where my DSTV decoder does not respond to input, either from the remote or from the buttons on the decoder itself, except for switching on or off, and changing the volume. There is a menu at the bottom of the screen showing the current programme and the next two programmes whenever this happens. I end up having to reboot the decoder then it usually works again.

How can I fix this?

Welcome to the magical world of Muiltichoice, take it to your nearest Muiltichoice and have them look at it, or get a new one.

I had the same problem and the multichoice agent I spoke to on the phone said that my decoder was outdated and no longer supported and can't be fixed. Ended up buying a new hd PVR decoder

I too have the same problem twice now in the last week.
Tried 2 remotes so it's not that for me....sigh
I have the new pace hd pvr

A reset fixes it for a while

MC will fix it for you. If you get there before 9.15 there is not usually a queue

I have a problem where any input from the control freezes then catches up after a few seconds, but luckily only happen once every few days and now I get the connection is lost problem even though I get 100% signal quality using the 1131 decoder.

Multichoice never stop fiddling with the software on these receivers. It seems to be 3 steps forward and 2 back. The features have improved since they came out in 2008 but the reliability has suffered. I have a 4-tuner Pace and the HDD crashed a year ago. Apart from that, nothing.

Oh ok so nothing I can do about it, was starting to think the installer did something :D

Also had issues twice now, where I would switch on out of standby and try change channels but nothing, menu just stay there, then after 5min it comes right.
Very annoying as my decoder is behind a baby proof glass cabinet, so in order to reset I have to move things around, find keys.

besides for electricity saving do you need to have it on standby, we usually keep ours on all the time.

Just heard an interesting theory though,by a guy from Zacspeed.
He say it is because of the channel move in October and multichoice is messing with the signal.
Took it in and they said it is fine after they tested it.

Have the same problem on a sd pvr.

so its giving the signal problem cause of it, so hope it's better after the change over :D

Once more guys, it's impossible for the incoming encoded signal to have any effect on the responsiveness of a decoded channel's remote control! Tell the guy at Zakspeed he needs to smoke less of that stuff during working hours :wtf:
