DStv raising prices next month

I thought you had to be given a months written notice when an agreement changes.

It's understandable considering the costs of bringing in a quality channel like SonyM :erm:

So now how much will it be now for the hd pvr subscription? I pay r600 per month so if im not mistaken it'll be 559 + 50 pvr access fee so thats only r10 more.. Yoh cnt believe people are complaining about a r10 increase!

It appears to be the standard reaction on MyBB when members are asked to pay more for something they already consider a ripoff.

5.67 increase on what is already a high (overpriced) base.

Tell me Multichoice, why is the quality of the content dropping and yet cost is increasing at above inflation levels? The vast majority of the shows only rock up a year after the air in the US so they can't be that expensive and the infrastructure cost has been covered long ago. Last time I checked the company was already plenty profitable, so wtf?

Did you think before posting this crap?

The problem is every year there is price increases, and yet the quality of the product is degrading. Does that make sense? People don't want to watch the same repeats over and over and over.....yes there will be repeats but the way DSTV is doing it is obviously not the right way.

DSTV is charging more because they CAN. They are the market leader, they have pricing power. I'm sure shareholders loves this. Some DSTV customers will leave, but more will join making up for the loss in subcribers but an increase in revenues.

There might be a few disgruntled customers that will cancel and jump to TopTV. Besides, it's not really like South Africans have a choice. Your either with DSTV or TopTV. If your musical tastes are towards Booty Beatz, RnB, then both will satisfy. If your musical tastes are elsewhere, then too bad.

With our slow broadband speeds people can't watch free Internet TV from other countries. SA'ers have no choice but to either join DSTV or TopTV. Compared with European providers, even on the 'full package' SA satelite Tv only has the bare basic channels. If you live long enough in SA one starts to think that the choice of channels are good, but actually it's very basic compared to 'basic' packages in other parts of the world.

Besides, why care about Man United, Everton, Blackburn Rovers, The Gunners ? We have the Blue Bulls, The Hurricanes, The Brumbies, etc. Super 15 Rugby, which is way more interesting than watching a bunch of sissy British soccer actors rolling for attention.

2010 = R529 + R65 = R594
2011 = R559 + R65 = R624

Still a R30 increase, not R10
