Please recommend a decent hotel or B&B to stay at for 1 night before embarking on a cruise. We are a family of 5. Preferbly something close (approx. 3 to 5 km) to the port/harbour.

We are only going end of March, but I would like to secure accomodation as soon as possible.

Thanks.

airbnb has nice places at the ushaka waterfront apartments/penthouses

Why not try bluff eco park, then uber xl it to the port?

Are you going on the MSC Musica? If yes, will you let me know how that boat is? The MSC Opera we went on last year was really run down and in dire need of proper maintenance

Yes the MSC Musica. I heard it is a new boat that started its first cruise season late last year.

We are only cruising End March.

cruised on the CPT-Walvis Bay-CPT trip on the MSC Musica this past weekend - had an outside balcony cabin that could accommodate 2 adults + 2 kids on a double bed and double sleeper couch.

Food and facilities are improved from the MSC Symphonia and the ship is wider and longer therefore somewhat more stable in choppy waters, but I would say meals, service and amenities are 4 star and still not 5 star.

The Musica was launched 2006 according to Wikipedia so is by no means a new ship, but this is it's first season in SA waters.

Next year we are getting the MSC Orchestra

The Bluff also a good option

Look for an apartment in one of the high-rise blocks in the Point area adjacent to uShaka marine world.

We stayed in a luxury apartment called Vista Serena / Eastpoint for about R2000 per night for 4 pax

Uber or Lyft the 3,8km (9 min in morning traffic) to MSC Passenger terminal at N-shed in Durban Port

Road lodge in Durban is 3 roads away from the port entrance and 3kms from the N Shed terminal.
Not too expensive also

Thanks guys, I used AirBNB & booked a small apartment in Umhlunga. It was half the cost of the Durban Beachfront accommodation. We have been to Durban beachfront / uShaka Dec 17 and a few times before, so really not interested.

What times are boarding on the cruise ship normally? Do we need to get breakfast before boarding? Or will breakfast be available if we board early?

I used a colleagues AirBNB code.
