Surely people can’t be this naive? A low initial toll will be the thin end of the wedge. Abandoning absolute opposition to the concept of Urban Tolling in return for a lower toll will simply see the toll being ratcheted upwards at a later date. This is a ploy by government to get the public to buy e-Tolling tags, and once all the tags and infrastructure is in place.............gotcha! It is too late to go back!

In my case it is not about feeling the financial pinch, I can afford the etrolling fees unless fuel prices go completely ballistic which I expect they will in the near future.

My objection to etrolling is the nepotism and corruption in the ruling cANCer political party, and SANRAL's Nazi Ally's insistence on keeping the etrolling contracts a secret, is sufficient confirmation for me that most of the money collected by SANRAL is going to line pockets and not pay for infrastructure spending.

Something else that bugs me, is that Pravin Gordhan seems to be a personal friend of Nazi Ally who appears to enjoy the protection of Gordhan and the National Treasury. That is just one of the many examples of cANCer nepotism.

The thing is that the Gauteng Road Improvements project has cost a lot of money, there are however hints that the etrolling gantries and the etrolling IT systems have cost more than the actual road improvements, if that is the case then there have to be cANCerous people back-pocketing cash big time.

I have no problem with paying for the actual road improvements and I still believe that a 10c per litre Gauteng-only fuel levy would be both fair and far less wasteful than etrolling at 30c per kilometre where 20c/km of that goes towards collecting the 10c/km required to service SANRAL's debt repayments.

I'm convinced that a lot of ordinary people like myself believe that the corruption involved in SANRAL's etrolling project is worse than the infamous arms deal corruption, I hope the judicial review is able to get to the truth of the matter and that the honourable proverbial lady justice manages to rape Zuma and his cronies for a change.

a while ago, a list of some of the companies that have contracts with Sanral for the GFIP was published - these contracts run into R billions - 99% of those contracts would not be necessary if a fuel levy was used to recover the costs

I expect govt. to soon release the 'new' tariffs for e-tolling - they are used to the ignorant sheeple that vote for them, who will no doubt say "well that seems reasonable" - problem is just that the rates will soon increase, as the total costs will not be covered by these 'new' tariffs

Levy was already increased by 20c a couple months ago or have people forgotten?
