Hi I have a Huawei E172 which shows a full signal WCDMA MTN connection
for about 20 seconds when I plug it in but then it goes to zero. Seems like the network rejects it for some reason.
Found modem : E17X
Model : Huawei E172/E172G
IMEI : xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Firmware : 11.311.04.20.00
Dashboard version : UTPS11.002.03.23.03_MAC11.201.01.00.03
Serial NR. : xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
SIM Lock status : unlocked
Location : Century city , cape town
o/s : windows xp sp3
MWconn 5.3L
Network Analysis

UMTS 36% [65510] MTN-SA
UMTS 36% [65502] (forbidden)
UMTS 36% [65501] Vodacom - SA (forbidden)
GPRS 83% [65507] Cell C (forbidden)
GPRS 83% [65510] MTN-SA
GPRS 80% [65501] Vodacom - SA (forbidden)
using the same 3G sim card in a E220 works great. The e172 is ex france.
Tried another e172 and same problem . Could there be additional settings for this modem or could the mtn network possibly not support the modem?
perhaps a sim card issue? perhaps a "new" sim verification technology on the modem side which the E220 does not have?
any help/advice appreciated
Any ideas?
