Yup, My line has been down since Friday/Thursday night.

Anyone else been victims of the dreaded cable theft? Luckily got my uber super duper woooooooooosh stick here. but still, sigh man, SAAAAI
 
Hey,what are you talking about?Pls STOP giving South Africa a bad name. 1St of April was 2 days ago :D

is that why we don't have internet...

wonder how long it will take them to fix it.
 
not any time soon...they probably going to try and sell you 8ta. someone else had a problem and they said they not replacing the line but instead you get their fail 8ta
 
The line in fishershill was stolen on the 19th of March. ETA for repair 22nd of April :(
I would say good thing for my whooosh, but tonight I'm only getting edge :mad:

Jip it is true cable was stolen....2400pair copper cable and trust me on this one...It will take some time to repair...
 
Can't help but wonder when this copper theft plague is going to be dealt with? Surely some guys wanting R50 for scraps aren't going to be armed with missiles? Is our police force that bad? Surely it's not rocket science to alarm the cables :???

I have heard that most of the cable theft is done by telkom technicians. :mad:

They caught a telkom guy in middleburg using his telkom van in daylight hours to steal cable.
I will see if I can find the story.
 
similair story this side, 600meters of 400 pair cable stolen.

MSG on the IVR when you call" We estimate that your service will be restored by the 13th of October, whilst telkom is investigating alternative technologies to deliver your service.

Down since 12 July, repair possibly 13th October? WTF?

"Spoke to the call centre, they are investigating other technologies in your area"
me: actively testing as we speak?
"I cannot say?
me: cause I have been driving around ( 4km from exchange ) and I have not seen anything or anyone from telkom
"They will get back to you in the next 2 - 3 weeks"
me: 2 -3 weeks?! I need internet now. I may just as well kill myself!
"we appreciate your patience sir"
me: what?
"we have escalated your issue to the regional manager and requested he call you personally"
me: ok thanks bye

Still no call......
 
I see they are laying fiber in Eco Park, maybe we should just start our own wisp in the estate.:)
 
You can get about R30 to R80 per KG for copper (depending on quality).
Very lucrative I'm afraid.
 
We are down in the Athlone area after our cables have been stolen for the 3rd time in 3 months... but surprise surprise theres the white and blue envelope waiting for me in the post box at the end of the month...
Telkom gives you no service but you must still pay...gaw!
