A stupid question: Does the Privio Lite come with the hard drive included or not?
Guessing that since the price is R 399 - it doesnt come with it.

Yes, no hard drive is included. According to the specs. the maximum is 1TB, but I'm not sure if this is actually true or if a firmware upgrade can increase this.

I have my Pri vio lite connected via the HDMI cable, The problem that I’m experiencing is that when switching on the unit the TV screen flickers on and off, It will continue doing this until I unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back in, Am I missing something or do I need to change a setting?
The second problem, when switching the unit of via the remote, the unit screen and blue light remains lit, this is pretty annoying as you can’t sleep with the bright blue light on, I have to press the on/off switch on the front panel to switch that display off, Is this normal?

I haven't had the flickering issue at all to be honest.
The unit doesn't go into a standby whereby the LCD goes off, i don't think this is changeable.
1. Just make 100% which files are not playing, maybe copy them to each folder. Its usually that the bitrate is too high and thats why it skips. They are .avi right?

3. That bitrate looks way too high, try a sample file at 2500kbps

Let me explain my predicament-I have a bunch of dvds but I dont like dvds coz they scratch and its alot to carry 200 with you.Thats y i got the privio.I want to save them all onto this machine.I dont mind too much about how much space the movies will take coz I can always buy another hard drive but compressing them abit would be a bonus.The program i am using is dvdfab.but since reading this post i discovered you cannot save as mkv.h264 so i am saving as xvid.Is this at a huge quality loss?I want my movies to look and sound really good on my big flatscreen.I don't want them to seem like a bad copy.Do I have the wrong machine for what I want coz id rather get something else than go through the effort of converting all my movies in a wrong way or is my xvid copy not done properly?(at my current 5000kbps it seems rather good except you see the pixels in dark scenes easily but the sound skips as ive said)......So basically what is the best way to save and watch quality movies on this machine or should i seek another?

Just got my Privio today. Got a question re the firmware upgrades.
Dont know yet what version mines is on - question is when I do update - do I follow it sequentially - that is do the earliest version (if that is later than mines) and then continue thro to the latest version.
Or do I just update to the latest version and ignore the ones in between.

As to your question though,Im no expert but I updated immediately to the latest version and it worked 4 me.

Thanks. I just updated to the latest firmware as well, and it worked 100%.
Do you have any problems playing mp4 files - they dont work on mines at all. Tried shortening the file name, removing funny characters etc and it still wont work.

thanks for the affirmation on the mp4 issue. No matter how I changed file names and put different titles it just would not work.
it is meant to be supported though, isnt it?
what is your issue that youre waiting for help with?
