Here is an example of an account that my daughter received as a non-registered user. It came like any of her other accounts by unregistered snail mail.

Fully agree, and it is a true grudge payment, but until the Government or law is changed we are screwed. I just want to cost the least possible and don't need it to consume my time. The eToll roads are still the quickest and most efficient means to travel Gauteng.

The invoice is dated 17 December. When did your daughter receive the invoice in the mail?

It's not just a matter of consuming time but standing up for what you believe. Many people are sick and tired of the government corruption and tired of bending over. So do you get that it's not about time consumption for a lot of us on this forum?

Yes, you're spot on! We all want to pay more...

Some of us actually want to see the road network being improved and R450 is not enough. Personally, i'm going to let my account accumulate for a couple of years and hopefully by then, i'll owe a few bar.. Now that might actually make a small difference!

It's a real pity you're such a cheapskate. But please understand that not all of us are. We're just trying to make South Africa a better place..

The point is you either are going to pay, then pay the cheapest price possible which is eTag, so, with eTag it will be say R100, after 7 days it will R192.31 and invoice it will be R230.77 within 30 days. Time you get to court R576.92. There is no case to plee in court, if you used it you must pay. If you goto court there is also the R1000 fine, so you looking at R100 becoming R1576.92

If people think the system will collapse, think again. the Government will throw money at it. Thinking the system _WILL_ collapse is no guarantee.

If you are regular user then it will be easy to run over R1000/month bill, escalate of non or delayed payments and it will be very expensive.

So agree to terms and conditions of payment just means to agree to pay which the law requires anyway, so what is the point of deny it???

No I am not a SANRAL person, just someone who cares about my monthly costs and minimize them.

Hey if the system is scrapped the eTag will be in the bin, but right now, using the system daily, I like the min cost of R450/month please

Either way, if you want to wuss out and pay via eTag go for it. Just please don't try and convert anyone else to get a vasectomy as well.

Last week 8 (Wednesday) or 10 (Friday) January 2014. No demands to pay... just a tax invoice with proof. Everything 100% correct.

I agree.

Last year I was with a large client in the insurance industry who offered their employees to assist in the registration of e-tags. About 250 employees got tagged in Johannesburg and Pretoria.

I just left and a day later got my own tag as I use these roads on a daily basis. I then realized that there will eventually only be a small number of people standing together against the system.

No, a Land Rover Discovery, and the email just states the amount. I know the vehicle passed under one gantry (GPS track log) when my son was in Pretoria to collect a trailer. It is clearly a case of number plate cloning as I regularly receive traffic fines in the post - all from Gauteng traffic departments. The vehicle was last in Gauteng in September 2012, except for the few hours at the beginning of the month.

One day when your children or grand children asks you about the eToll and its collapse be sure to mention how you were part of the spineless that tried to help the government succeed in their money making scheme.

If the system does collapse, which it won't because government will take whatever money is necessary out of the general fiscus as they already did with the 6 billion payment, SANRAL would probably have to refund all the people who have paid. I can't see them doing that. So the government will have incensed users if the system succeeds and if and when it fails.
As no option will be much better than the other in terms of user dissatisfaction, just in different groups of the road users, they will chose the one which continues to bring in money.

In the insurance industry a large company comprises of at least 2000 employees so 250 employees getting tagged is a relatively small number.

Either you don't know much about the insurance industry or you're just making it up.
