I got this on Saterday afternoon via Vodacom, Upload was was than Download!?!http://www.speedtest.net/result/1569018998.png on a 10mb line to LOCAL! How can local be effected by sat3 and why is my upload faster than my download?
God this blows... After Seacom went down ALMOST EVERYBODY got redirected to the SAT-3 cables.. *a week later* BBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOM! Seems like we ADSL oukies just arent winning at the moment. I give them 4 days before its fixed, no use getting excited when they say it will be up approx at XX/XX/2011. Seacom said the same thing and we are still waiting...
See this excellent reply ---This is exactly where Seacom wins, when an outage occurs they're open and communicate, but Telkom... not a damn, it's never their fault. And as for Afrihost's backlog story, I've heard this lie many times before, protecting Telkom ain't going to score you any browny points!
It's not SAT-3 that's down, but some onward connectivity in Europe, beyond the SAT-3 landing in Portugal. Except for those carriers that use the specific cable, everyone else using SAT-3 is fine.

Sigh afrifail.
[/URL] HAHAHA man what an idiot!
You know what I did when Afrihost died? I dialed into my telkom dsl account and flew, full speed ahead. So you can take your "its telkom's fault always" and shove it. They have proven to us time and time again that their accounts are reliable and consistent.
U sound like a Telkom employee! Yes Telkom's network is stable... but I won't support them, simply because of the damage they've done to most South African's... while the rest of the world experiences true broadband, they stifle everyone with their blatant anti-competitive actions! So no... I'm no idiot, just a staunch Telkom hater of note!
That is probably to do with a congested exchange instead.Ok, I am confused. If an undersea cable is the reason for the outages, then why does local data not work. At times my router just says upload and download connection is 0, meaning there is NO connection. At times it comes on slower than usual. I can open international sites easily, but downloading from iTunes is very slow. A friend has a telkom account and her ADSL is dead!
