At Home 4MB.
Ordered directly from Telkom.

I'm in Johannesburg but moving to Cape Town in 3 months where it will be the same.
I don't need or use the phone. I am on Vodacom (cellphone) for that.

Voice as line tester

At home, 4Mb dialled down to 2Mb (distance from exchange)
Primary use for the voice capability is troubleshooting - listening for impulse noise, buzz due to line problems.

1 line ADSL ( alternate ISP) with VOICE ( Telkom )

At the office we use our 4Mb line to double as a fax. However, at home, I find it unnecessary and prefer to use my cell phone for voice calls.

4mbit (down to 2mbit due to distance from exchange) Johannesburg

Only data, no voice, don't even keep my handset plugged in.

ONLY adsl. 384kb.

Port Elizabeth

I don know where this thread is going, but I get the feel that a lot of us are paying for a service that we do not actually use!

the above post says that he does not keep his handset plugged in ... I do not even OWN one.

384K - Durban

I use Voice over IP.

I also have many clients that I've set up to do the same. Paying for something you don't need or want is unfair... with out voice means we can afford to up the line speed.

384 line - Kroonstad, FS

Edit - Only use Telkom line to report faults, as it takes loooooong!
