Only use it for ADSL (512), but sometimes use it to phone telkom on it cause it is free...

Kempton Park

ADSL only
Johannesburg
4mbs

aside: Recently only syncing between 2400 and 3300

Have analogue line only so I can use my 1 MB ADSL. Don't use voice portion, don't care about voice portion, and think it's stupid that I'm forced to pay for it regardless!

No need for Voice

Adsl line rental purely for Adsl service. R120-00 for nothing

Pretoria/Garsfontein 4096K
Bronkhorstspruit 384K

Got a cell to make calls

ADSL usage + Voice

Pretoria (Jan Niemand Park)
ADSL 384kb with Telkom Closer 4 (R462.00)
OpenWeb SAIX 4Gb for Data. (R239.00)

Just a comment: I have "audited" my family's phone habits a few times [every time there's a shake up in rates from the various options], and every time, Telkom comes out as the cheapest option. Just the 1300 free minutes (standard) and limitless callmore calls gets USED in my house. There is no VOIP package out there that comes even close.

I am no fan of Telkom, but in the end it is the bottom line that counts.

Pretoria -Woodhill - 384k

I only use the line for ADSL. No phone is even connected.

512k via Cybersmart.

Don't use voice - makes NO sense paying BOTH telkom and cybersmart.

Global Chat voip is 37 cents peak hours local and 17 cents off peak. If you are on the same network it is free. Cannot get better than that. Overseas calls are up to 70% cheaper and calls to mobile are +- 25 cents cheaper than Telkom and our network runs on the Telkom interconnetion with VANS operators. We have a direct interconnection with Telkom.

In Durban North
We have 2 telkom lines at home
One is prepaid and the other is postpaid, there is no phone attached to the post paid, its for ADSL use only.

When we wanted to get adsl, we were told we couldnt get it on a prepaid line, so we had to order a new voice line with a new number just to use the adsl portion...
It was originally a 384k but i upgraded it in late 2007 to 4mb...

We do use the phone (once in a blue moon, but we do still use it.) But if it wasn't for ADSL, we wouldn't have it.

Town: Bellville (Cape Town)
