Vienna - The president of football's controlling body Fifa, Sepp Blatter, said on Sunday that he still believed in South Africa as the 2010 World Cup host. But Blatter also revealed that Fifa had a plan B ready should worse come to worst.
Blatter told Austrian state broadcaster ORF that there were some concerns about infrastructure and security.
He expressed his belief the 2009 Confederations Cup in South Africa will be the ultimate test run and if that was not satisfactory, it would be time to look at alternatives.
"But at the moment an earthquake would have to occur to prevent the World Cup from being held in South Africa. However, I would be a negligent Fifa boss if there was no plan B in the cupboard," Blatter said. - Sapa-dpa

..."earthquake" hey?

Methinks earhquake = crime and Zim... ;)

Ouch.

Honey, I've got a new boyfriend just in case things don't work out.

Huh? They admitted to having some vague plan B last year already. To lazy to search now...but it was debated here ad nauseam.

I think they should go to plan B now already.... It will be embarrassing for us, but nowhere near embarrassing as totally stuffing up the entire Soccer World Cup.

With the crime rate as it is here, Metro cops shooting at the SAPS, killing of foreigners, situation in Zimbabwe, power crisis, fuel price... there is enough reason to go to Plan B.

And I'm going to test you out before I decide who to choose. :D

nah, I rate we should host it...
It will give me just enough time to leave

No, was a rumour amongst FIFA officials, that the media got hold of, but then Blatter officially denounced it as crap.

Now, he has a different story and admits that there IS a Plan B.

I mean... come on... just switch your TV on now and watch the final of the Euro 2008 right now... and ask yourself honestly if SA is capable of such a high class type of event... answer = NO, NO, NO. FAIL.

Now to dig up that thread where all the patriots said that a Plan B would only be enacted if there was a natural disaster.
