Correct. Unless OP has a static IP, which I doubt. You'll have to wait till you get home before you can use it.

You can download an app for the iPad that allows you to log into the PC at home and use it remotely. I have used it before to send an email from my laptop that was at home.

But now I can not remember the name of the app. Will have to check when I am back home.

You download the app for the iPad and install software on the PC. Then just log in with the app and it displays your PC screen on the iPad.

If OP's have 3G or have wifi accessibility, why not use Teamviewer to remotely start a download or access
home PC remotely?

I use Teamviewer 7 on my ipad to access my pc at home. And Teamviewer is free from itunes

Wi-Fi is good too but only in range of the wireless network. using my phone as a webcam on wifi.

Good stuff, router? TP-Link W8960N is very good, R499-00 if you buy it through BidorBuy...

They gave me the Netgear N300 ... seems pretty decent : wifi N, 3G failover etc

When I have more cash, I May replace it - but if it works well on wireless - great!
