First election results in

Or parties are not happy with the results and are demanding a recount? Could this be a swing vote for JHB?

JHB is more likely to swing towards the ANC. A lot of Tshwane wards are still outstanding (die moot, centurion, hatfield, PTA east). These are high density DA strongholds.

Well I guess it's a safe bet to say that the e-tolls are now here to stay....

I don't usually let things like this get to me (I mostly try to be optimistic) but for the first time in my life I feel like there is just no light at the end of the tunnel anymore.

The way I'm feeling right now is I must either move to the WC or get out of SA...why continue to stay in a place where there's just no hope in the foreseeable future for positive change.

Took the words right out of my mouth

The United Christian Democratic Party on Thursday expressed disappointment over their 8071 votes counted by midday.

Party leader Siphon Mfundisi was optimistic that the numbers would increase.

"The results are not what we were expecting but we, however, know that our support is in the far-flung areas," he told Sapa at the National Results Operations Centre in Pretoria.

"We normally gather momentum when those who struggle to use computers send through their results," said Mfundisi.

He said his party had aimed for seven seats in Parliament but realised this was not attainable.

Har Har Eks

Is that Eks? Why did he ask for a translation for an Afrikaans SMS? Or just playing dumb to establish cred? Which is likely because he claimed not to speak English in that other thread where someone flamed his grammar.

Yeah lol its Eks :)

He was as obvious as can be in the cricket thread during the t20 world cup.

I see 65% or higher for the ANC this time round :/

F... so we are going to be screwed. So all this e-tolls, Nkandla and other scandals gets the thumbs up from 65% of SA... Then there is no hope...

That implies that the DA managed to frame these elections around those issues. While they managed to partially do so, for most people these elections were clearly not about those issues
