First election results in

Sad but true. Building a house for your family in your home town is a very noble thing in the township and rural areas, so not everyone is sad about Nkandla. They may be angry that it toook R240m but they are not angry that he did it, in fact they admire him for it. Another example of how misguided the DA can be sometimes. They could have taken a different angle to this whole thing.

Not to mention to someone who lives on a government hand out they're unlikely to have a concept of money like 240m rand. All whites live in such houses for all they know. 70% of people who vote for the Anc don't have jobs was one of the stats 702 handed out today.

Remember that most ANC voters dont' have cars, so they don't care about e-tolls. We should be able to separate middle class politics from the working class politics.

I agree.. the masses uses taxis. They get price increased food coming thru tolls roads.. but they don't see it that way.

But I'm believing that person who said ANC will rule till Jesus comes. If all these scandals, money spending, service delivery protest , job losess etc keep ANC in the pounding seat, I can't see how they'll ever stop being voted in.

So many intelligent black callers on 702 came on today to make the following point :

While they didn't approve of Zuma, Black people were voting for the Anc not out of blind loyalty and emotion, but because that was the party that they had seen make the most progress for them.

So many people calling black people stupid for voting to the Anc fail to take this simple point into account: They are able to separate the president from the party who in their opinion has done a lot to improve their lives. That's wonderful that people here have opinions on behalf of black people that the Anc has done nothing to improve their lives. The problem is you didn't stop to ask them if that was true. To them the opposite is true and in their experience the Anc has done a good job in improving their lives. That's why you're getting confused about them being stupid to vote the Anc. The supporters of the Anc vote Anc despite Zuma. That's just how well the Anc has done to improve their lives.

I know we don't like that fact because the only politically correct way for the "previously advantaged" to criticise the Anc HATEFULLY is through the proxy of appearing to represent the views of the poor black people who we insist are getting a bad deal. That's why they HATE the Anc. But when the poor black people disagree they are getting a bad deal and continue to vote the Anc then what's the reponse ?

Call them stupid ! Makes one question the sincerity of the initial implied motive for "hating the Anc".

Sad but true.

The DA promised jobs

Maths that made me think they wont get 3.6% ? Who said i used Maths? It was my personal opinion and i was quite clear about that.

I don't either; what I see, so far, is stagnant support for the ANC with a stronger, more unified, opposition. That's a nett win in my book.

'Course I might be totally wrong come tomorrow morning. :D :erm:

Wtf you and them smoking? :wtf:
What progress exactly do you in your honest opinion think the ANC made since the last elections? And please back it up with facts if you can.

People forget another thing here. Many black professional have seen what happened in the WC when the DA took over, and they are scared DA will do that nationally. Remember that majority of government managers in the WC were black, and now are white. So that's a legitimate reason why they are not voting DA. The problem with black people is that they dont' raise their views publically as they should, rather they raise them through votes.

Try reading his post again. Especially the line that you highlighted :erm:

Compare the number of black managers in the WC and the other 8 provinces and you can see their point. DA is shooting itself in the foot, but they are forced to as they want to keep the white vote happy.

Legitimate reason? Sound like racists to me.

Facts You need to state facts with some links to back it up please.

Why are you asking me ? Ask the people who approve of them like their voters. You think they have no reason to vote the Anc and just do so because they are stupid ? Exactly the point the black callers were making. They have seen big positive changes in their lives and that's why they vote Anc.
