I don't understand why so many on here find it hard to believe people vote for the ANC.

I voted for the DA but know of a few poorer family members who voted for the ANC and will continue voting for the ANC.

They have all received housing, grants, electricity etc since '94 and will continue voting ANC because of that. Millions of South Africans have benefited like this. I don't agree with it but you can't blame them. They have legitimate reasons for voting ANC even though we disagree.

Yep, your vote is your own.

Personally more interested as I prefer to keep the status quo or not change it too drastically to quickly.

Is it not because they couldn't find black people suitably qualified?

I don't remember how they spun it. But is hard to believe they could not find suitably qualified black people in their own party, after all they must have earned a majority non white vote to win the province.

About another 8 million votes to be counted if we work on a turnout of around 70%.....

That is very likely the real reason, but the politically sensible approach would have been to find people they could mentor, keeping those with the skills and knowledge in the background to act as mentors and advisers.

race race race
white black coloured

We'll NEVER get beyond this - and that is why this country is ****ed.

Neither, the DA appointed an all white male executive (and Zille) in the WC. And mainly white mayors everywhere they ruled, so they obviously have no faith in the ability of black people (they have never actually been able to answer that). Maybe people see this and think, wait so that's what will happen when the DA comes to power. The DA is only waking up to this fact only lately. Look, they probably made those appointments because the party is traditionally white and in politics you reward loyalty.

The day the DA is willing to gamble with the white vote to gain the black vote is the day when they will have a chance of winning elections. Right now they are too risk averse and happy to keep the white and coloured vote. The problem is that they have hit a ceiling with the both the white and coloured vote, and now they have no chance but to change the way they do things.

If you think that you're an idiot. And if you don't vote for someone based solely on the colour of their skin you're a racist. Simple.

And the DA are in a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. The moment they get prominent black leaders coming through they're derided for fronting, window dressing or the people are called coconuts.

And your figures are off. 4 of the MECs are non-white.

Any news out or similar explaining why not a single vote yet out of COJ?

Well, according to the IEC they have finished counting and auditing the results and they only need to be captured. But they are going to complete the smaller metros first and then move onto the bigger metros. To be captured at 813 stations per hour on average.

I can agree with that. A recent poll (widely covered in the media) found that a large percentage of black people think that the DA will reintroduce Apartheid if they should take control. LOL.

I blame it on the DA not distancing themselves from the previous incarnation.. the NP... enough. Heck, they should even have rebranded and renamed the party. And I in my humble opinion think many blacks still link a white face to apartheid. And with that in mind it does not help much that the DA have too many white faces in their leadership...

Uhm what? The NP isn't the DA's previous incarnation. They used to be the Progressive Party, then the Democratic Party, and then the DA.

But all of this is not excuse for the black people to vote for the ANC over and over again. There are many alternatives. Heck, I'm sure that the ACDP wont be an evil organization if they will ever take over the reign. Do they have good leaders? No clue. But please dont vote for an imbecile (Zuma) just because the main opposition might give you too many white nightmares.

Yes, they would be.

This is the organogram of the senior management of the Department of Agriculture in the Western Cape. This was in 2013.

I'd like you to have a look at it and post for us the number of Whites, Blacks and Colourds.

This is a random department I chose.

Ying Yang, the Department of Labour is condemning WC government EE stats and those are the official stats, and Zille has an all-white male executive, and you are telling me that we should look at one department? If you were to convince a voter would you tell them to look at one random government or rather to look at the official stats, which Zille herself has acknowledged and justified?

Well the DA should do better than in 2009. Need another 900,000 odd voted to breakeven with 2009 and last time round they got that in Gauteng alone so the DA should pass the 3 million mark this time round. Unfortunately not enough to make the kind of impact I was hoping for....

Sudden huge jump in Tshwane.

ANC winning now by about 50% to 36% for the DA
