FNB Connect Uncapped ADSL Feedback

I think its not exactly that.

For example, to get the R50/month discount on your mobile device, you need to spend a certain amount on your credit card, but the saving goes down on your cheque account.

Also, your CC and Cheque account gets different reward points. Ebucks discount for example use which ever one is the highest, but the fnb uncapped only looks at the cheque account points.

So its a tricky situation if you want to make use of all the benefits. IMHO, you need to spend on your Credit Card for both Petro and Goods (Petro cant be more than 20% of total when goods included, else you dont get all the ebucks on the petrol you can) to get the mobile device saving, and on your cheque account you need to do everything else other than spending, and then spending just enough to get the 300 points for the overdraft. Well, that is if you want to min/max all the benefits at least, if you want to go for only specific benefits like the uncapped, then go ahead and only do the cheque account, but I want my R50/month discount too.

Is it even worth having a petrol card anymore? most places accept credit cards now, I thought the ebucks were only if you used a petrol card.

I dont want to have to use one card at certain times and then the other the rest of the time. They really are making it complicated!

Petrol card ensures that when you buy petrol, it is recorded as that and you get ebucks petrol reward rate. Downside is, you pay for the transaction.

If you use your CC or cheque card, the Bank pays the transaction fees (at least for the mobile price plan on a platinum cheque card). The downside to this one is, some petrol stations put the payment through as goods purchased, instead of petrol, so you lose out on the ebucks rewards rate, which is a lot less for goods vs petrol.

So catch 22 if you ask me, I personally cancelled my petro/petrol cards.

Ok looks like the ebucks website had some minimal changes, at least where you look at your rewards level its a little bit different, and it now shows the rewards level from the previous month. The fnbconnect.co.za website still however says I don't qualify.

Still no Rewards tab on online banking, but according to FnbConnect my discount is 10%. My price is still the same as the normal price.

I checked and it does show the discount.

Is there anyway to check how much free 3G data we get a month? I used to get a sms notification.

Yeah if you go to https://www.fnbconnect.co.za/cpms/lin/communication.jsf it doesn't show the discount. However if you go to Account tab then click to buy uncapped ADSL and select a package, it correctly shows the discount you get.

Looking a the prices, it seems I get 20% as expected, my cheque account is level 2 while my credit card is level 4. Oh well a few months from now I will be on level 4 at least, won't take long.

So does anyone have any feedback on the service yet?

Does torrents work?

Does NNTP work?

What is the News Server details if they do have one?

I can get a 20% discount, so 2Mbps is R239 pm which is exactly what Mweb 2Mbps is!!! I don't see the point of this any more...

I like how they do their pro-rata prices. The discount is based on the normal price, and applied to the pro rata price. Pretty cool.

So for 2Mbps:

2Mbps Uncapped pro rata payment: Aug = R235.92
Less Uncapped Discount =R59.80 (20% based on R299)
Final price: R176.12

4Mbps Uncapped account with 100% discount
