FNB double-billing issues

Numerous FNB customers have complained that the bank double-deducted their accounts with historical card transactions on Wednesday, 9 August 2023.

A number of the affected customers vented their frustration at the incident on Twitter/X, including in responses to the bank's pinned Women's Day post.

Didn't they have a similar issue last year when the new ebucks rules were rolled out?

My nephew thought he got scammed because he had no money in his account.

He went to Pick n Pay yesterday and his transaction got declined due to insufficient funds, so was definitely not just a visual glitched but actually affected the funds that could not be accessed. This morning his balance is back to normal

“We have already rectified high-value account balances to ensure customers can meet their financial obligations, such as debit orders, and are currently rectifying the remaining accounts,” the bank stated.
Sure, because it is the "high value accounts" which are the most likely to have debit orders bounce. The poors with no money don't mind of they are hit with additional costs due to the debit orders bouncing. And if they complain, who cares, they don't have any money to sue us like the high-value accounts.

Perhaps for you but I am getting all my bank fees back with other people's bank fees so FNB is for me the best bank ever.
FTFY.

Sounds like they reserved transaction amounts again but the response is atrocious. Also something that happens when you've been using archaic spreadsheets for the last 20 years rather than move on to better systems like the new digital banks are doing.

Why I left FNB! They are skelms!! And very dishonest

No, they are not skelms.

They were forced into transformation and that is why you see problems like this now. You hardly ever heard of such issues prior to 1994.

Has nothing to do with transformation. Their lack of communication and lack of customer support is a big issue for them, I heard alot of people also complaining about them.

They never transformed their old archaic manual systems is why you see problems like this. I don't know how they managed to win any rewards.
