FNB duplicate transaction problem - what to do

Less drama please !!!!!!This glitch has not affected everybody. 10 / 10 people I asked have not been affected.

100% of the people I polled were… me! :)

While I am calm as it will be sorted out in due course, this is probably a good advert for having a second form of banking with a different organisation. Case in point: my Virgin Money CC will be dusted off for the trip to Spar later today.

Ironically I wanted to go to FNB today to open said 2nd form of banking. Can that idea...

There is no bank that will not have the occasional malfunction. Could happen at any of them. What matters is that they make it 100% right for everyone affected.

Of course. Will probably still go with them anyway for a 2nd one...just not today.

Interesting scenario: low earner (general worker) on the Easy account happened to receive their salary and because of the timing of this debacle, it was doubled in their account. They noticed and withdrew it all from an ATM. FNB is going to have a challenge getting that second amount of money back from that client!

Yes, why should clients now jump around?

This is just BS!

This bank is full of siht! They are playing around with messaging apps, photo sharing apps, selling cellphones and laptops, instead of focusing on their core banking functions.

Just applied to move my business accounts to Nedbank. Will still decide about my 4 private accounts.

There is always a bright side: if your SCAMRAL etrolling debit orders bounce whilst you are transitioning from FNB to Nedbank, you can temporarily join the majority of people who are not paying :)

internet banking seems to be down.

"Service Unavailable

The service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."
I also got this error, and so did House earlier.
Cellphone banking is also down.
Hopefully they will sort out soon.

That is why you bank at more than one institution. Never put all your eggs in one basket.
Anyway life goes on and FNB will sort it out.

Managed to log in. My Virgin Active monthly subs are duplicated (R113) but also my SARS refund. Can't FNB just leave the mistake alone and let life carry on. Pretty please?! :)

No duplicate transactions but transferring between my accounts is "temporarily unavailable".

I am pretty sure you don't have to do anything. They should fix it.

This, I work in the financial field and have been involved in something like this before, customers should not have to do anything at all. Keep calm and carry on everybody :)

I feel sorry for those fools who made use of the extra money, not thinking that the bank would take or demand the money back.
