FNB uncapped ADSL: 80% discount planned

The catch is if you have a ebucks rewards rate of 7.5% minimum then you qualify for the 80% discount :/

I find it quite hard to reach that level of reward, you have to add quite a few products where some have fee's attached. The discount that you qualify for is kind of offset by the additional money that you spend to reach the higher reward rate.

Im not hating or anything just making an observation, i have been banking with fnb for 20 years. And in my experience they are excellent if you dont have to contact them. :)

You may consider them nuisance cards... but yesterday we paid for most of the table wine for our upcoming wedding with our pick n pay smart shopper points accumulated over a few months.

Well said. So how about a bottle of wine da so? :)

A little more info and how to find out what discount you'd get:

Seems to be linked to your Ebucks account level rather than your Account type primarily. To see what reward level you are on log into the ebucks site then go to https://www.ebucks.com/web/eBucks/myebucks/discount/mydiscount.jsp,the reward level displayed there is the tier of discounts and freebies they have in the table on the article

this is great, but they always make it so complicated to try and figure out what you qualify for and how.
Make it simple FNB. eBucks is also becomeing a bear to manage now, plus the wole qualifying thing for the discount on their device specdial.

FNB is by far the most innovative bank with the best rewards, but they are becoming hard work.

Thought as much, will stick with Capitec.

IMO people are fooled into going for the all in one for R100 a month or whatever, but really they could bank for much less on another bank. People think they are getting a good deal, but not really. Nothing is for free in this world.

AND you get interest on your account :D What a bank! Capitec FTW

5% ... never got this at any other bank. After 30 faithful years I left Standard Bank for Capitec and am reaping the benefits. IMHO ... FNB, Standard Bank, Nedbank equate to: big offers = big deductions = little or no interest for your money and zero interest in you as a person for that matter.

It is not free, but I pay R100 in fees per month and get back R150 in eBucks...

This will never happen.

On eBucks level 2 and a platinum cheque card, you will need to piss out about R15-20K through your card purchases / account in order to get about R120 in eBucks.

Wife and I only use my cheque account for swiping. It's easy to go to R15k in one month:

Fuel = R3 500.00
Pick n Pay = R3 000.00
Telkom = R1 000.00
Municipal charges = R3 000.00
Misc = R2 500.00
Total R13 000.00

I'm on level 5 and last month got 9 000 ebucks (R900.00) and total bacnk fees across all my product with FNB came in at R200.00

I love the assumptions.
FNB credit card - 1% flat rate back. R15k on a credit card per month is easy.
Then add ancillaries - I get rewards for: FNB Insurance Brokers. Bond account. Cheque account. I get R100 per month in ebucks from those ALONE.

Nonsense. On a Gold cheque card I'm on the 1.2% earn rate. Spend R11000 odd per month on average. R11000 * 1.2% = R132. Then add my eBucks from fuel R400 * 7.5% = R30.

Here is the info on what you need to do to move up the earn levels:

Just got an email from FNB about the changes to reward structures for my Platinum Account...from 1 July Platinum account holders could get upto 100% discount...probably will be near to impossible to achieve though.

Are you two bloody agents? Are you both working in FNB's marketing division, or are you part of the masses that have been brainwashed by FNB's marketing psychologists?

It is almost impossible to get eBucks that easy

The reward structure has changed though.
You dont earn points anymore to get to a certain level. You now get percentages for each product you hold. So even Gold card holders can now get platinum benefits. Not easy though

for smart accounts , they don't qualify for adsl discounts :(

i was on smart account , just phoned them to upgrade to gold so i can get the uncapped discount.

With smart account i was getting about 400-500 total ebucks , with only about R3000 total spend in swiping , with no extra products.
