Forum improvement suggestions

I like color and the look maybe a bit bland for me but then again it might grow on me. A little bit old school for my liking.

I would be nice to change the contrast, by the time I had read all the posts my eyes really hurt.
Fonts when posting a reply is a little on the small side.

But its a job well done! Congrats!

Very nice all round, I would say. I like the new look very much but I think an option to choose a theme from a selection (or theme colours) would be extremely good.

Well done MB...nothing wrong with your site and looks good. It's always been a difficult task to satisfy everyone, but as soon as people gets use to it, it'll be 100% to them too.
One guy likes RED, the other guy BLUE...Now ask each one wich colour looks the best? You guessed it...that's part of life! :)

It's an upgrade for sure

Since I am relatively new here, I suppose I am not biased / afraid of the change :D
So here is my verdict: I like it - it does not look clumped and messy at the top and I prefer the way the hyperlinks and buttons are together

Since implementing "Stylish" with the soft gray style I can read the forums again :) Nice change, although I still miss the "old" format new post listing. Would also like to see the "last page button" on the list of new posts. Would also be nice if number of threads per page can be selected in the same way as number of posts per page

I must say, it works pretty well on my netbook.

I have a few gripes though. For one, the layout of the login text boxes is strange. But I don't have to log in all that often.

For another, the soft colours don't contrast much, so i find it somewhat tough to view the forum for long periods. But if, as I think I remember rpm mentioning, it was just the default theme, then it will likely be updated in time.

Otherwise, kudo's, I guess.

Like the new forum, but have to agree with some posters .. maybe a light grey background would be better. Also, the ability to theme I'm sure would make most people happy - they can then choose whatever suits them.

On the whole, an improvement

I like the classy design and muted colours, even though they seem perhaps just a little too washed out; as others have said, more contrast, please. Although perhaps I just need to get used to it. It's a step up -- more sophisticated.

  • The edit toolbar is also welcome.
  • Must still figure out what Multi-Quote does. Not sure I'll need it.
  • "Go Advanced" is another thing I might play with, but not often. (I did use if for this reply, though  And as a writer I appreciate the bullets.)
  • I'm not sure I like the absence of avatars. That's kind of a tradition with forums, isn't it?
  • I assume you will introduce more themes once the basics have been ironed out with this primary theme. That would be welcome -- and it will save you from having to ditch this one if you find you can't tweak it sufficiently (which would be a shame).

All in all, it's an improvement. And never mind the bulk of the criticism. Give it a week or two and then pay attention to the remaining problems that are still being pointed out.

Overall, I like the new look.

I do however struggle with the threads-list - not sure if its the big blue/red icon on the left, but its just a lot more difficult to quickly scan through than the old one.

Well done;
  • Thanks for getting rid of avatars, those animated gifs are almost as bad as some banner ads.
  • Love the muted tones, they allow the content to stand out.
  • Am I right in saying it is loading faster? You have cleaned up the HTML surely.
I am seeing a bit of extra space before my signature which I could not get rid of

Wow, rpm and team! You've really gone to the top with this upgrade. It looks awesome and it gives the forum a 'innovative' look. Maybe I can suggest that you follow through with the 'look & feel' to the other areas as well, like the Tech News, Business Tech, etc. Keep up the great work! :)

Like it overall, contrast is decent, the UI is pretty clean. I'm not crazy about the quoted 'speech bubbles' but that's a small annoyance.

ummm...there seems to be a bug...or it could be me.

With multiquoting and then clicking "submit" it does nto list the multiquoted posts at all.
I have to click on "Reply with Quote" on another post to list the multiquoted posts.

I would like to have more contrast.

I am sure that over time I will not remember what the old board looked like.

Cant post youtube vids like we were able to on the old forum...please fix the bb code to allow it again. thanx
