Frogfoot Port Elizabeth

Also in Newton Park, Afrihost - Frogfoot. Getting routed through CPT. Packet loss is insane especially after 5pm... Reaches 49% packet loss often in the past couple of weeks and average is upto 15%.1.1.1.1.png

Yikes that sounds bad. Has the recent fix shown no improvement? How is your packet loss tonight? Strange how they only routed certain clients in PE.

It comes and goes really, really noticeable in games. Speed is also greatly affected most of the day.

The real poor performance will come during the next 4 hours as usual when more people are online. Looking like very bad congestion.

Last 10 days on my line

Yesterday 12-6pm line was basically unuseable due to PL

Has better for me since yesterday and my cloud service premiumize finally works again. Seems FF were having some weird issues lately.

When submitting a Support Ticket to Afrihost.. The below is their reply. They completely ignore the Ticket about Packet Loss and copy pastes this message about line speed only.

Thank you for choosing Afrihost, a million apologies for the inconvenience caused and the delayed responds as we had an influx of mails.

Please kindly note that I understand that you are facing issue with speed of your internet.

To figure out why you're experiencing such poor download/upload speeds, we'll need to conduct a few tests to collect diagnostic data. I'd hate to waste your time with this, especially if you've done this already, but please bear with me as this data is necessary to find the cause of the problem.

Please carry out the below tests and let us know the results so that we can determine the issue:

Test-1

1. Connect your device (computer/laptop) directly to router via LAN cable(without using Wifi).
2. Perform a speed test using speedtest.mybroadband.co.za

Test-2 (if the line hasn't improved)

1. Disconnect your router from CPE/ONT and the PC/Laptop.
2. Turn OFF the CPE device for 15-20 seconds inorder to clear the MAC address.
3. Connect your device (PC/Laptop) directly to CPE/ONT and activate the connection by accessing the URL: activate.afrihost.com and entering your clientzone logins.
4. Perform a speed test using speedtest.mybroadband.co.za

If you see an increase in speed, then we must doubt that the issue is with your router. If not, the issue will be with line and we can log a fault with the provider. Please send the speedtest result here if

the line is not on the correct speed. I shall await your response.

Please let us know if you need further assistance as we are at your disposal

Still interested as to why your packet loss only starts on the 3rd hop, normally FF issues start from the 2nd hop(1st after your router).

Maybe AH doesn't have enough peering capacity/bandwidth in Cape Town? I think they peer at NAPAfrica

Would love to know also. As it stands this is what normal looks like for about 70% of the day. And this mostly started in the first couple of days of April.1.1.1.1.png

Not just FF doing this, seems to be more wide spread with packetloss.. Friend in cape town running on Octotel fibre also gets packet loss. See below.
