It's really sad that you don't notice the difference between Fibre and Rain :p

As long as it works, I'm happy. I hung up my gaming shoes (keebs?) long ago.

All I want is for there to be interwebz when I open Safari or Brave or YouTube. How it gets to me isn't of any concern:cool:

That being said, Rain is pretty good in our area:

Ah, 5G. That's quite impressive actually. I was originally poking fun thinking FF perform the same as Rain's 4G network.

Why did you have to take the fun out it? :ROFL:

But yeah, the experience on Rain is much better all around. I still use FF as my primary (since Rain throttles streaming to 360p on the package I have) but it acts like a bonded line for downloads and things like that. And prioritises streaming to go over FF unless it's down, then it will fall back to Rain.

As luck would have it, we haven't had many FF outages since I had Rain installed, but I can assure you the day I cancel Rain is the day the outages return.

Sounds like you have a pretty decent system in place all around. You're on Mikrotik if I remember correctly? You should show us how you prioritized streaming to use one network over the other, perhaps in the networking thread :)

Yip that's right. I definitely can't take credit for it, as @B-127 helped me out with the setup and troubleshooting. I'm still very much a noob when it comes to Mikrotik but the way it's set up now, I don't have to touch it.

With my old EdgeRouter, I needed to mess with the failover settings often as it would 'forget' that I had a failover connected and revert to just one connection.

IIRC my setup uses mangle rules to determine which traffic originates from streaming sites and forces it to use FF, and then Netwatch is used to mark that traffic to reroute over Rain if FF happens to go down. I'll post up the cleaned config sometime

I'm sure your setup also confuses the myBB speedtest :p I'm running a tp-link loadbalancing router using FF and Vodacom. Sometimes it picks up vodacom, but with the Fibre speeds.

Yup. Sometimes it picks up the Mweb IP, but runs at rain speeds. Other times it's vice versa
