Frogfoot Port Elizabeth

Are you being serious? Log a ticket for what? it is not just myself that is having a problem, it is EVERYONE in my area that has fibre, the same issue with different isp's. You guys are always "upgrading" the nodes, but your upgrades seem to deteriorate the service even more
Dont bother. You'll quote your reference number(s) and get another reference number in return. Ask me how I know...

The fact that the bot hasn't replied to you gives it all away.

I stopped logging calls with Vox and Frogfoot as it never got anywhere. Finger-pointing between both (and heaven help you if you restart the ONT, in spite of the fact that 2 people are WFH...not cool!).
So I stopped, we drop on occasions and move on. Both will get a big send off when Openserve finish in our section of the suburb. I'll then go with Cool Ideas (most likely).

Awaiting Vuma in my suburb so I can quickly say my goodbyes to FF.

This week I was once again told that sustained pings above 40ms to google.co.za are "within acceptable tolerances" and my escalation closed despite:

1) My ISP agreeing there is a problem
2) The fact we've always been at a stable 12-14ms
3) The fact that gets back down to 12-14ms again for a period before its back up to the 40's for a longer period
4) The periods of higher latency are accompanied by a degree of packet loss
5) Having been down this same road multiple times over the last 2 years before a problem is acknowledged and then fixed

We have Vumatel outside as well but they're expensive. Decided to grit my teeth and bear it for now until Openserve decide to complete their rollout.
I got a pay-as-you-go 3G dongle as a backup.

Getting an "incredibly solid" 3.5Mbps download on my 50Mb fibre line. This is Battlefield 2042 being installed on my new laptop.
Wonderful speeds...Thanks Vox/Frogfoot. Can't wait for the latency later tonight!

Looks like our node we're connected to went down about half an hour into our load shedding slot and hasn't returned when power was restored. No internet access at all.

Of course this happens right after I cancelled my Rain backup link in last week because FF has been stable for the past few months. Serves me right...

I've checked and there's no outage listed on Frogfoot's site. Logged a call with Mweb for what that's worth. It's been down for 7 hours at this stage.

Someone else in my neighbourhood that I know is complaining that Frogfoot is down on their side, but I am literally 4 streets down and have no issues.
Probably erratic as usual.

If they're Mweb then it probably explains it.

Seems only Mweb clients affected so far

Also saw mweb customers this morning without internet , came right after a while tho.

Yeah seems to have been mainly Mweb customers that were affected, but strange that VC were also having issues.

Nothing like a ~10-hour outage to brighten up your Tuesday

Yes, about right. This is why I gave up logging calls around October 2020.

Open a call, wait for resolution. It either resolves itself before FF do (and then you need to log it with Vox anyways!) or I would reset the ONT and then get told by FF I shouldn't do that. As if they'd explain to our bosses why we stopped working for hours waiting for that lot to get back.

I've emailed Openserve asking when they will finish the rollout of fibre and they'll hopefully get back to me soon.

If it's aerial and the poles are already in place with the fiber strung then it's usually about 3 months give or take.
In my case by Feb 2021 everything was done, and I went live early May :) Other people seem to have similar experiences.

They rolled out 65% of the suburb before mid-December 2021. And they've done nothing since then. There are poles, but they're doing nothing which is disappointing.
