Frogfoot Port Elizabeth

It really has been a **** show, FF don’t give a damn about us and we actually need to log a formal complaint with the ISPA etc. it has been this way for years, with little periods of decent connectivity in between! This latest issue is really unacceptable and to be blatantly ignored is not going to fly anymore!

I think this is the answer. Moaning about it here, while cathartic, does not really change anything. From tonight I am going to test packet loss for the rest of the week. Log a complaint with Afrihost and if they don't get it sorted then I'm happy to escalate to the ombudsman. ****it. This is ridiculous.

Just say when, will also join you in logging the complaint

Frogfoot said a long time ago that they were increasing capacity for PE. Seeing as there is clearly a crippling problem with capacity atm in PE, with speeds collapsing like clockwork in the evenings, has Frogfoot acknowledged that the desperately needed upgrades never took place?

Friggin Kak Fibre
Anyone wanna purchase domain & start posting on there?
Invite all areas to add complaints, so can have a map of FKF

100%.

As end users we don't seem to be getting any more traction than our ISP's are (or the ISP's are not motivated enough to pursue it) so it's time to club together and start making this into something neither can ignore. The fact is FF's presence in the EC (and it seems all over) is shockingly poor.

So what's the plan?

My download speeds have been very low today. getting 2Mb/s now and fullspeed upload on 500/500 line.
So I decided to do an experiment - please keep in mind this is an unthrottled Pure Fibre from Afrihost - Unshaped, unthrottled .......
I connected my VPN and suddenly got an ok 64Mb/s! download speed on Speedtest.net
Disconnected the VPN and back to 2Mb/s!
I guess that roughly proves either Frogfoot or Afrihost are throttling my non throttled line!

Wow. so a week for them to notice something, and we only get a generic response like this....

"Low Impact"

Hi,

We are working on the issue.

Please could your run a trace route to 1.1.1.1 for us when you experience the slow speeds and packet loss again.

@AfriNatic I'm not with Afrihost but I can see packet loss on the first hop so I'm sure the others will chime in with their results shortly.

I think at this point the best thing to do would be to speak with some of the affected users and plop down a Mikrotik with OOB management at their premises so that you can get a proper view of the 'lay of the land', so to speak.

We are getting more tests to investigate where the issue might be. Some of our logged faults are closed with feedback being that it's only Afrihost and Axxess clients experiencing the issue. If it is an issue on our side we want to make sure we get the issue fixed asap.

Currently playing online in the Eu, and pings are spiking to between 400-1000ms, before settling to 180. Then rinse repeat. Here is a tracert. still a lot of packet loss, and low speeds on a 30/3 line.

That is interesting, based on that MTR it looks like more of an AH issue than a FF issue as its clean upto the 2nd hop, and the packet loss is starting within AH's network, but it doesnt explain why @PhireSide is having packet loss as his starts on the 2nd hop with a different ISP.

@AfriNatic can you please open a ticket for me please. Can't stream anything. YouTube dies. Can browse but barely. Seems like a an issue that starts at 7pm....
