Frogfoot Port Elizabeth

@AfriNatic what is the problem? Just got an Sms saying that the technicians are working on a problem in the area. Any idea on ETAs? Or any info?

It looks like most of the Western and Eastern cape is down for Afrihost clients. No DHCP leases coming through.

We working with Frogfoot to see if the scheduled change for firmware upgrades caused an issue or not but for not we are still investigating the root cause.

It went down 2 days now after midnight, only issue today is its still down and have not come back, is the firmware update on your side or FF's, and how big of a F-UP is it to effect 2 provinces. bit of a big issue to cripple such a big part of the network.

Service are restoring and we are monitoring to see if there is any additional impacts.

Apologies for the issues experienced.

So it was a firmware issue?

We are waiting for an RFO but it seems like a change caused the outage.

So far services are restored and the traffic graphs are looking good. If anyone does still pick up an issue please do let us know.

Apologies for the issues experienced.

Yes. I'm on Cool Ideas on Vuma and it looks like they have issues with all fibre providers via Cape Town. You also with them?

I logged this ticket, which they now closed:

Suspect Impact: Customers on the above fibre lines in the above areas will experience no connectivity.

We do apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Apparently a CISP network access switch has taken CT to PE down.

You’d think there would be some redundancy but here we are 6 hours later.
