Frogfoot Port Elizabeth

Sorry to say, worst experience with telecoms in the 16 years of using internet services...not sure if it's an isolated issue which only sees Lorraine users on Frogfoot having these issues but this is tiresome and my household are over the constant trouble shooting only to see the issue reoccur.

Some feedback from my end as we are moving over to a mobile broadband contract.

1. Mobile broadband outperforms Fibre in this area both in stability and overall quality of service. (Packet throughput and Latency)
2. The major talking point for me is how without fail we see a major loss of service from around 19h00 daily to the point that international connectivity is a dream and pinging CPT with a roundtrip of anything from 100-400ms during this time bracket)
3. If you want to game or are reliant on staying connected to remote services it does not meet the requirements currently.
4. Our complex has four different families experiencing the exact same problems no matter which ISP we are with. (Axxess, Vox or Vodacom)

This is on a 50mbps line. This is extremely frustrating. What are we paying for?

They probably waiting for the Liquid NLD5 route which is being built, this runs along the coast

The worst part is that you could see this coming. Frogfoot's aggressive move into neighbourhoods in PE dwarfed the scale of other rollouts and there wasn't the same investment into the backbone at the time. They wanted to get the foot in the door first, and only afterwards work on fixing the backbone issues and improving the network. Their acquisition in PE, Blitz Fibre, was told to go ham on signing up complexes to get them locked in. I had to assist a complex that my brother lives in, giving them advice on how to get out of the contract they signed with Blitz because their rollout was months behind schedule and they couldn't link up to any backbone in the area because no-one wanted to work with them.

It's a shame to think that even Openserve would have handled this better than Vox.

Do you guys get pro rata rebates for the times when your service providers are unable to provide the line speeds that you are paying for?

I was on the verge of switching from Telkom ADSL to fibre until a found this thread a few months ago.

Unfortunately the area where I stay can only accommodate a max speed of 20Mbps, but at least I see ~18.5Mbps most of the time. Dealing with Telkom comes with it's own set of frustrations though.
