Frogfoot Port Elizabeth

Yeah I noticed that sanren / Tenet also showed George down yesterday, looks like they at least got one of their paths back up

damb that packet loss aint too good
I'm used to some packet loss during peak periods as can be seen on the previous graph, but we had a small outage here from 11:20 to around 11:25 as well, and I can't seem to download a file from Amazon AWS right now either.

I have seen Telkom mentioned when FF talk about the PE NLD links, perhaps they are the supplier here (I know they supply a lot to sanren)

Latency seems back down to normal levels again, but there seems to be quite a bit of packet loss that happened last night:

Internet connectivity dipped for a good 20 minutes between 12:20 and 12:40 today. Anybody else having issues?

Experiencing very slow and intermittent connectivity.

Higher than normal pings in Fernglen. 22ms minimum since Sunday. Wonder if this is the new normal for FrogFoot. Their network in PE really is a crapshoot these days.

Yes and the frogfoot rep is very quiet lately they must be very busy sorting out all these outages.

It pains me to say that I feel my LTE connection was more reliable than this

Still bad in Summerstrand but I think we normally are separate from the rest of PE

@Frogfoot Fibre can you please issue an official statement with regards to the capacity issues on the back-haul link between Port Elizabeth and Cape Town?

Been trying to get Afrihost to liaise with you to change me back to being routed via the Cape Town ENNI for the past 4 months but it seems all my requests are simply ignored (or possibly forgotten) or I've gotten a variety of different responses from AH: "We have not received the feedback as yet (from Frogfoot), we will advise once they confirm it is possible." or "From my understanding, there are still some capacity issues on the link between PE and CPT so traffic is still re-routed via JHB, as soon as the new link is completed then we will re-route the traffic".

My favourite reply from Afrihost was on 22 May: " Hey joshsparkie, Frogfoot has been working on the issue since yesterday. I am not sure if they are done yet but this will fix the issue." ...

Hi there,

Could you please DM us your FRG number so that we can look into the issue for you?

There more of us who would like to know about capacity upgrades in port Elizabeth, and don't tell us capacity is fine .
If it was fine Port Elizabeth would have been receaved double speed promotion.

The capacity has been an issue for what, the past six months now? Or has it been longer?

Some planned maintenance that includes PE planned for this weekend:

Strange to see that I am getting more or less half of my current package speed tonight, 10mbps average on a 20mbps package:

EDIT: It seems to be artificially limited; I queued up some Linux ISO's for download and started a Steam download and it just doesn't breach the ~10.5mbps mark no matter what I do. I'm supposed to be on a 20/20 package, so I've raised the issue with the ISP support team to have a look. It might be that I have been accidentally downgraded to the lower package.
