Frogfoot Port Elizabeth

FF crawling along in CPT.

Just started again this morning like last night. Must be CPT to JHB link down.

Can ping 1.1.1.1 which is CPT for me but not 8.8.8.8 which is JHB.

Ffs.

Ours been dead since this morning at 07h30 - cannot access anything.
 
Looking for some advice on provider & ISP in PE, Newton Park area. My Mom is living there and I have no idea which providers/ISPs are good there. Lowest package requirements (40/10), so not heavy users. They are not technical at all, so it must stay up and resolve itself, cannot have manual resets, speed tests, pings, etc as troubleshooting requirements.

I don't have fibre but could get Frogfoot (also in PE) if I wanted to.

I'd consider Axxess for one reason alone - they seem to be the only ISP offering Frogfoot (that I've checked every now & then in the last few months) without the installation fee of almost R1, 000.

I think your Mom would need to stick with them for only 6 months, and could then move to say, Afrihost, who own them, avoiding the installation fee but perhaps a migration fee (so check on that).

As an ISP offering fibre, I've only seen the odd comments here on MyBB, both positive and negative.

It partly depends on how good Frogfoot are as an FNO in Newton Park, as to whether she'll have a stable fibre connection.

I use Axxess for LTE and find them approachable enough if I have any issues, but in the past it took me getting their Accounts dept to sort out a data allocation shortfall which their Support were failing to see to.

Where I am in the city, I seldom hear of close neighbours complaining of Frogfoot or the ISP they're using ; I know of 2 with Axxess, one of whom once mentioned they weren't always getting the speeds paying for, so take that under consideration.

1st screenshot is Afrihost with FF as FNO ; note the installation fee.

I'd double and triple check with Axxess that their's is definitely not charged for, and then check the 1st invoice very closely.
If it suddenly appears, insist Accounts reverse it, sending them the screenshot as proof, should you decide on Axxess as ISP to go for.

Depending on where in Newton Park but if Vumatel or Openserve available. I would go with one of these over Frogfoot. Have never had issues with vuma or openserve in this area, besides the odd router or ONT restart.

Thanks for the feedback. Axxess seems that is the best/cheapest option for their basic requirements. I'm a bit worried about Frogfoot, because I've heard some bad feedback here in Cape Town but don't know the PE situation. They're between 4th & 5th Avenue.

Yes Frogfoot is also my worry, but the Vuma option is about R175 more. It's a faster line, but explaining that to somebody that does not need it is a different story. They're between 4th & 5th Avenue Newton Park.

Yeah I have been struggling to stream Spotify. Keeps cutting and saying the song is not available. Works fine on mobile data. afrihost, ff, Port Elizabeth.
 
hi guys. joining the party a bit late here but I am moving into a complex in Newton Park that is only covered by Frogfoot. Makes me quite scared reading all of the problems everyone else has been experiencing.
I'm currently in Cotswold, running Frogfoot through Afrihost and I can honestly say that I havent had many problems. My last outage was 31 December 2022. Seriously hoping I can say the same for Newton Park. Are outages frequent? I game online quite regularly.
