crazy that fibre is all around here but Protea Valley has been skipped...
a Vox agent moved in the area a dew months ago and she applied for fibre also. She said it should be here in a few months
Indeed. Even VDSL is lacking.
Is Vox open access though? The appealing part about Vumatel is that it is open access, with a variety of ISPs available on the network.
Personally I'm very interested in Cool Ideas.
I know I'm harping on Vumatel, but so far they are the only provider in our area that appears to have an indication of how much interest has been shown and how much more is needed. It is encouraging to see the number of required signups drop every few days.
They recently also got enough signups in the De Bron area to start rolling out there soon. I'm hoping that will translate to Door de Kraal/Protea Valley being expedited once enough signups are obtained.
My first choice would be DFA though, but apparently the closest node is about 6.7km from my house, despite live DFA fibre being 250m from me, so that is a no-go. DFA also do not do direct-to-the-customer sales, and their "retail arm", SADV seem to also focus more on gated communities and complexes.
The Protea Valley Residents Association seems to mostly be an occasionally updated Facebook page and a seemingly severally outdated webpage. Is there any way of getting a significant number of residents together to at least indicate interest at a sufficient level at one of the fibre providers so that the area can be noticed?
