FTTH Rondebosch

The changes in the past 6 months in southern suburbs is almost nonexistent.Pretty frustrating.

I think the council is holding up the process.. its been 1.5 years now since they applied for fiber in Rosebank/Mowbray and we keep getting pushed back by CCT.

Can one register anywhere for interest for FTTH? We have just purchased a property in Rondebosch and it would be great to try and get on the list, as we currently have FTTH in our current Flat.

I see a small part of Rondebosch has been updated as live on the coverage map.Slowly slowly....

I see another update for Rondebosch. Not quite consistent with the Webafrica blog but generally close.Keep rolling on!

The telkom/Openserve coverage map appears to be running ahead of the actual rollout schedule. The area I live in (part of phase 3 as per webafrica blog posting) has been updated to purple (live) but they have yet to pull fibre across the telephone poles. Plenty of activity in the area...installing fibre in manholes and installation of black boxes on poles. They were in my property about 3 weeks ago to install black box on pole but still no sign of fibre going into the box.

Small update on the Openserve coverage map: appears that a narrow strip along Milner Road between Sandown Road and Avenue de Mist, as well as a small area along Stuart Road has gone purple. Roughly corresponds with Zone 7 of the Webafrica map, which should be taken as a sign that Webafrica (as per usual) are talking out of their arse.

Not a big change, but signs of progress nonetheless.

Pinelands has had larger areas going purple, so I'd take a guess and say that Openserve may have prioritized finishing up there over finishing Rondebosch up.

Sadly for me, Rosebank is still not even on their radar.

Yeah I noticed the update too. The latest purple update stops about 30m from our home, sadly :(
Our neighbours, a few houses away in Ave De Mist, have fiber, but we're still seen to be in "planning". The latest update doesn't sync at all with the Web Africa roll-out map.

Yes this is a little frustrating. I'm on Oxenham Court and our area is clearly in the Active Fibre zone according to the coverage map. However, after about 6 weeks of trying I still haven't managed to make any progress and today I was told that my fibre order which I had placed with Telkom had been cancelled as there was no coverage. Has anyone in the area actually managed to get the tech guys to come and do the installation yet? Is the area live or are the advertisers (received flyers from webafrica, axxess, mweb, afrihost) and the map all lying to us? Any info is much appreciated!

Looks like Rondebosch is starting to take shape, more areas updated.Hopefully most will be dark purple by July.Would be great to get some more feedback from those in the dark purple area.
