We should see a further update to the map by next Friday.This apparently covers the area fed from the cabinet on cnr Portland/Sandown Rd which will then be live.
At the moment the network is live but Openserve need to update their internal systems to facilitate ordering of Fibre.

Good to know. I'm at the other end of the pink zone, unfortunately, so quite far away from this particular cabinet. Not even sure what cabinet would be feeding us... is there any clues about how to go about finding that out?

Yes that's the one.

I got an SMS notification from Telkom saying someone will call in the next few days regarding fibre in my area. I think I am on their system as I recently moved and installed an ADSL account 2 months ago.

Received an update on my OpenServe fibre order which was placed end of June and installed beginning of July. Apparently OpenServe is forecasting (forecasting, not promising!) that their Rondebosch fibre network will only be up and running by the end of August.

I'm still trapped, sadly, in the small remaining "Island-of-Pink" in Rondebosch. Feels like I'm being purposely made to wait . Going to see the glass half-full though... am sure it's a matter of time.

Which provider? Because if it's OpenServe you will pay through your a** for those speeds compared to other providers.

So just learned a valuable lesson.Just because map is dark purple don't assume the address is live.Received notification from Axxess that address is not reflecting as live yet.
I can only imagine that Openserve are still busy updating their systems and the internal pieces are not fully in sync yet.Hopefully by end of week!!

Correct happened to me as well, when Claremont went "live"...took 3 weeks in being dark purple to being able to order fibre.

You need to click on your address and it will tell you which services are available at that spot. Our area in rondebosch was also dark purple for weeks but when I clicked on my address it said only 10Mbps adsl available. Much later, forget how many weeks later, it changed to 100Mbps.

Have ordered a 100 MB line from ISPAfrika.Hopefully the installation process is not too painful.Once that's activated I will get VOIP from Webafrica.
I have one of those VOX data specials so should be able to keep the total monthly cost for voice and data to approx R1,000 pm.Not bad!!
