Fuel consumption

8 in the Duster.

But that's cause I sometimes try and drive it like the 200hp turbo beast I sold.

I'll try better after next fill up.

RS4 (B8) 16l/100km in town. 11l/100km on the open road
140i 12l/100km in town. Hardly drive it on open road.
Fortuner V6 14.5l/100km combined.

Jaguar X-Type 2.2D

I've been a good boy the past month or so. With the current light traffic, I've seen trip figures as low as 4.3 L/100 km. Think the tank average will end up being around 5.2 L/100 km, though.

Although I think there might still be room for improvement.

It's worse. I think in km/litre. I have to convert to whatever language it is you guys use before posting.

Btw, km/litre is way more accurate to use.
ℓ/100km is the standard we use.

All brochures, journalists, and even those stickers on the windscreen use ℓ/100km.
I don't think one is more accurate than the other.

I myself prefer km/l, makes it easier to gauge how far one litre of go-juice will take me.

At least we don't use antiquated measures like miles per gallon

BMW 320D - 57 litre tank
5 year life time average is about 6.8 litres/100km
Best ever on a 20km flat route was 3.9 litres/100km
Best ever road trip stat was 1100km and not in reserve yet either (that kicks in at 90km remaining)
That 1100km_+- trip yielded a 4.8 average at an average speed of 101km/h (Driver + 1 passenger, a full boot, air con on all the way - cruise control at 125kph where possible. Cape Town to East London - N2)
I reckon 1200km is possible at national speed limits and a light foot. May be tight though,...
ex: 2011 320d LCI

The best I ever achieved was:
4.07L per 100km
on a 800km round trip (JHB > Bloem > JHB)
Pump figures not OBC
driving 100km/h - no stopping, pure economy run.

Current: 330d - got bored of doing economy runs, but its about 6.8L in town on average and 5.5L on the open road

2020 Corsa 1.0T 120Y Edition

Averaged 6.01 L/100KM to and from the vaal.

City driving is usually about 7.5-8 because my foot has a mind of it's own.

Best tank in a while

Clio Rs220 trophy
It's my personal run around. Rarely sees cruising as our family car does all the regular stuff.

Ford figo 1.5 trend auto..

That's high, does it at least have a lot of power? I just now got my long term consumption down from 8.7 to 8.2l/100 km, genuinely trying to get it lower, then I pull a heavy trailer this weekend, over 60km the long term (last 8k km) went up by 0.2. Must have been over 10l/100 km to go up by that much.

No idea how you can live with 13+.

If it wasn’t that I was working from home, I would have sold it the week I bought it. It’s admittedly only heavy around town; on the open road it returns a decent 7-8l/100km @ 120 with the AC on. It’s a fairly heavy car so I think that counts against it when driving around town with lots of starting and stopping.

It’s got the Golf V GTi engine in so 147kW but with an extra 300 or so kilograms due to the longer chassis.

Is that a bakkie that you are towing with? I sometimes feel I may as well have gotten an RS4 with the consumption I’m getting but that would have likely been even worse:X3:

Yeah that doesn’t seem right at all.

Should be 10-11 even in town.
Driving like a granny gets me around 12-13l/100 on average around town. When I’m in a hurry and drive to keep pace with traffic, 17l/100km isn’t uncommon.

I’m suspecting maybe the MAF sensor needs replacing, I’ll have to pull A/F ratios with VCDS the next time I go out to be sure but I do feel like it’s running rich (fuel smell from exhaust is pretty strong at times).

Not to bad for 3L V6 2.2ton suv. Open road I can get down 8 or even 7 sometimes. This is mostly none highway driving.
