KitKat experience.
Day 3:
All is smooth and running well. Except for Chromecast screen cast which freezes the tablet after 30 seconds or so.

Yup, don't think processor can handle it smoothly.

The latest Chromecast update seems to have resolved the freezing issue. I can now finally cast the tablet's screen - in fact that is what I am doing as I type this ;)

The new Chromecast backdrop feature is nice too.

I dropped my Note 10.1 2014 and got the black screen syndrome, where the tablet still switches on and functions, but the screen stays dark.

Did a bit of research, seems that if you pop the back off (can use fingernails starting from where pen is), disconnect the black cables that go to the screen, disconnect the battery (6 screws), and then reverse the process, it will work again.

Did so, all is now fine. Just make sure that you get the connector to the wi-fi antenna in the rear cover lined up, otherwise your wi-fi won't work.

So I'm getting hugely irritated right now. Every time I try update anything on the Play store it downlands the file, go to a black screen and then home screen with the. "Unfortunately, Google Play Store has stopped". It doesn't matter what it is I'm downloading it gives me the same issue. I'm pulling my hair out!!??

This happens to me also as soon as I want to update all my apps at once so I have to do it one by one

Not sure if this will work for you. I had the same issue a while back. Went to system, applications and cleared the store cache and data. It solved it for me.

Thanks for the guide. I've been putting it off for some time now and my Chromecast wants KitKat:D.

Guide was so simple to understand. Only hiccup was finding the "Developer Options", here is how (might have been explained before):
(1) Settings > General > About
(2) Now tap on the "Build version" several times.
Now the "Developer Options" should magical appear under the "About" menu item.

Goodbye Jelly Bean, Hello KitKat.

Thanks! Rooted over the weekend and flashed the Nordic OS this morning.

I ordered from Fnb on 6 October, till today they still don't have stock. Cancelled the deal, will buy note 12.2 from Orange.

So, I'm running out of space on my 605. Is there a 128GB SD card compatible with it? Any recommendations?

AFAIK 64Gb SD Card max. Check latest international OEM firmwares if they support 128Gb cards.

You get a 128GB Sandisk microSDXC card, I have one (ordered from the US).

Will just check if it works in the Note 10.1.

Edit : Ok, it works :D
