I'm looking at a Mecer Xpression W370ET

Windowss 8 64bit
Intel Core i5-3210M 2.5GHz Processor
16GB Memory / 1TB SATA HDD
17.3" Full HD 16x9 TFT Screen / 2.0M Pixel Camera
Blu-Ray Read/Write Super Multi Drive
nVidia GeForce GTX-660M w/2GB Graphics
Card Reader / 3x USB3.0 / HDMI
2 year carry-in warranty

R11499

My budget is R12000

I like the specs of this machine but I have not always heard good things about Mecer, any advice, what does the community think?
Any alternative suggestions would be appreciated.

Don't buy Mecer products, they very bad quality.
Dell /Asus/Toshiba and some HP's is the ones to go for.

That Mecer is based on clevo models, which is huge brand in usa.

Seems pretty decent specs for the price.

Should be able to handle your games at full hd but not maxed out on the settings.

Go look around for a Proline Laptop. Also made by Clevo.

The barebone goes for R6000 (it lacks a CPU, Ram and HDD)

It has a 670M built into it with a MXM card which you can replace later if needed.

I always look for a laptop that should have decent stock cooling on it.

Pinnacle supplies these laptops, but I dont know where you might find them at retail. But if you asked around i'm sure you'd get it easy.

Just be careful you don't end up with 2011 models,The older models were HM.....2012 models were EM.
Easiest way to see it is 2012 model is it should be HM77 chipset not lower.

The W370ET is fixed GPU 2012 model - is a cheaper spin off of the Clevo P170EM
The Proline P150E is i think a 2012 Clevo P150EM(with a crappy sized 32GB mSATA in it)

Second hand Asus G75VW AS71? (3 months young :p)

Cant comment on the Mecer you've got in the OP, I've had poor experiences with another model, but I have no idea what that was based off of (it was more of a business machine). Whereas the Clevo/Sager stuff is generally quite good

Yip laptop parts bought and put together in factory in Botswana, you welcome to do some investigation for yourselves.
Screen quality is worst i have ever seen, keyboard buttons was terrible and seems they just waiting to pop out.

Also check out Lenovo y580. Under 10k with quad core ivy i7, 8gb ram, 660m etc. Downsides are average build quality and 720p screen though.
