btw, what's with all the "no alcohol / don't drink your troubles away" advice?

it has served me very well in the past!

I mean, I get that it can lead to much bigger problems and it isn't a magic silver bullet, but when used in a responsible fashion it does in fact help

How does one get over a romantic heartbreak?

Very recently got dumped (after about 3 months together, I thought things were going well), very painful (in my chest) and sad. Last time my heart was broken was 2012 but it wasn't nearly this bad, the other 2 relationships over the intervening years didn't end in heartbreak. My sleep is all messed up, I do not want to work, food is off little interest beyond having to force myself because my stomach is complaining.

So to the people with more experience in these things, how does one deal with it?
Bro it's only Monday, why couldn't you wait until Friday so we will have a funny interesting Friday thread.

It's crap now... but roll with it. It will get better with time (on average). The grief will come in waves, but the waves will eventually recede.

Focus on you - take this time to start new habits which will lead to a better you (and provide a bit of distraction as well)

We've known each other for longer than three months. Hell, I fell in love for the first time in a decade, give a man a break.
Your connection could have been strong so the duration doesn't count

All I can say is that somebody else said... Time

Try to keep busy and not ruminate

I went through something similar with Taylor swift. She acts as if I don't exist

Gonna get her IG Blocked. Didn't even reply and I even sent Hearts!!
