:p, now we have muppets going this wasn't thought through how are they going to get funding to maintain the roads sigh... It's like you know the way they were supposed to originally.
I'm just shocked that KZN gets a lower budget than it brings in in tax revenue.

Folks over there must have somehow figured out how to monetise KZN's biggest service, looting things before setting them on fire.

They should have done this from the beginning. A physical barrier you can't move through unless you want to use the road. It's proven effective.
On the busiest highway in Africa?

Great idea Einstein

yes and we will be paying for it, so who is it a victory for?
At this point you had a choice between "pay x now" and "pay 2500x later when these morons one day admit e-toll doesn't work and the debt is uncontrollable".

If it cuts off the diseased limb that is e-tolls to prevent deeper infection it's a win.

but you still not getting it, we are going to pay no matter what. There are bribes that need to be fullfilled.
So one way or another we are going to pay. I would rather sit in jail then pay e Tolls.

No you're still not getting it.

we are going to pay no matter what
That was always the case. Unless you thought the Money Fairy was going to come drop a big bag with a $ sign on it in government's lap?

There are bribes that need to be fullfilled.
That too was always the case, as it is with everything government.

So one way or another we are going to pay.
That too was always going to be the case. The only thing that was still to be decided was whether or not the government let that debt build even higher before forcing the payment. Thankfully they didn't (that's the "win" part).

I would rather sit in jail then pay e Tolls.
If they set up regular toll plazas then you won't have to go to jail, you just don't get to use the road without paying going forward. No worries. I don't care about not being able to use that road without paying. I don't live there.

He did. 2/3rds of Eskom's debt is gone.

Like magic.
Ah, but real magic doesn't exist, it's all about fooling either the eye or the mind, so the thing to do with any trick claiming to be magic, is to very carefully watch that other hand ..

Try not to think about that other hand. It's going somewhere very unpleasant without any lubrication.

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi said that while the deactivation of e-tolls was becoming a reality, the provincial government will need to find alternative modes to collect revenue to pay Sanral's debt.

The decision to scrap e-tolls came after the provincial government agreed with national government to take 30% of Sanral's debt due to non-payment.

Lesufi said that the government would communicate with Gauteng motorists to find the best way to collect revenue following the failure of the electronic toll collection system.

e-Tolls is going nowhere. It will not be scrapped, whether people pay for it or not.

Have you seen the JHB ring road in peak traffic times?

Imagine each e-toll was a toll plaza. XD

LOL they`re gonna place booms at the gantries. Let the peasants queue to pay if they don`t want to pay.
