[X] NO!

Google is more "evil" than Microsoft by now.

=> Firefox

I'm typing this from chrome right now...and I gotta say...WOW...

Pros:
1. Speed...yes it's extremely fast!
2. Nice interface...really stripped down

Cons:
1. No Adblock Plus - sorry, but I can't adapt to the web with millions and billions of ads...I've gotten too used to it...so this is the killer missing feature for me
2. Not customizable, and no extensions - this is probably firefox's most compelling feature.

But it's WAY better than IE and safari...

If you install it, just take a look at the EULA, it's got some sketchy things in there, like that google has the right to use anything that you submit to any website through chrome...wtf? They also have the right to update the browser as they choose...in the background, without your intervention...

Overall I'd say it's a step in the right direction, if it could get Adblock, I'd switch, definitely... but as advertising is googles main revenue stream, don't expect that soon ;)

I agree with you nelwa, i am using chrome right now, and the ads are starting to bug me.... will prob go back to firefox just based on that alone.

I need my Addblock Plus !!! Never realised how much junk there are on the
sites I visit daily o.O Plugins will come, but can I hold out so long?

Wow! I am blown away. The browser is lightning quick, clean and simply awesome. Love it when you open a new tab...simillar to Opera but the Recent bookmarks feature is cool too..

Me like.. Google is about to take on the world!

cant say i am experiencing the same.

When opening new threads from this site, the browser grinds to a halt. Any tabs related to this site become un-browsable till the newest tab loads completely.

It is open source so an ad-block extension/plugin is a matter of when not if.

Ive just installed it and its pretty fast compared to internet explorer

:)

and very simple good job google

edit: btw im using it to post this

Surely seeing as its open source and built on Mozilla technologies, a 3rd party ad blocker could be along soon?
Or have i got the wrong end of the stick?

On the side: a quote on a Chrome vs Firefox site about speed  30Mbps!

Very similar…

Windows Vista
Intel Core 2 Due T7500 @ 2.20Ghz
2046 MB Ram

Connection: Charter Communications
30.0 Mpbs download
2.8 Mpbs upload

I am re-installing it to see if it performs better. Something must be wrong internally.

Install this hosts file to block all advertising in Internet Explorer and Chrome (and Firefox). It blocks all the major adservers (but fortunately does not block MyADSL).

http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

It also blocks known malware sites.

Now includes most major parasites, hijackers and unwanted Adware/Spyware programs!
Proudly now the #1 rated HOSTS file on the Internet!

The MVPS HOSTS file has been selected by Pricelessware as "the best of the best in Freeware" for the 2nd time ...

In many cases using a well designed HOSTS file can speed the loading of web pages by not having to wait for these ads, annoying banners, hit counters, etc. to load. This also helps to protect your Privacy and Security by blocking sites that may track your viewing habits, also known as "click-thru tracking" or Data Miners. Simply using a HOSTS file is not a cure-all against all the dangers on the Internet, but it does provide another very effective "Layer of Protection".

Editors Note: As time has progressed the focus of this project has changed from just blocking ads/banners to protecting the user from the many parasites that now exist on the Internet. It doesn't serve much purpose if you block the ad banner from displaying as most other HOSTS files do, but get hijacked by a parasite from an evil exploit or download contained on the web site. The object is to surf faster while preserving your Safety, Security and Privacy. [more info]

I think I like Chrome. It's fast and looks great. My webmail (Mweb messagecenter) doesn't work properly though. I can read email but cant reply or forward.

Advertising is important to big sites. MyADSL would not exist without advertising. Well it would not exist in the way it is now. The bandwidth in SA is far too costly.

Don't worry, we would not dream of making this site lose money!

I made sure the ads are still working so I can participate in the community fund!

and that ad blocker does not affect this site! I promise!

I am a big fan of ad blockers, but knowing what it takes to make this forum tick money wise, advertising is critical. :)

beta

Everything of Google's is always beta! GMail is still beta! I'm surprised the search engine still isn't beta. Its Google's way of saying that because there are bugs and problems its not an issues because "its still beta".

Get with the times man.
Ever heard of the concept of "the eternal beta". I suggest you read up on Web 2.0 (and Web 3.0) principles....
