Damn, am so eager to get a new phone - Contract up at end of March, what are people recommending ? Any chance we can get a motorola droid alike here ? (Droid isn't compatible with ZA from what I recall, think its under another name for the ZA compatible one)

the one that compatible is called MILESTONE, but seems like motorola aint having updates about releasing any android devices in the near future... I'd really recommend SE X10, apparently it getting released soon here in ZA, rumour says it might be released in april. all specs are almost the same with the NEXUS ONE and HTC DESIRE. I'd say pay a visit to a vodashop and see what they have to say about this...
 
So I got pretty hammered at a bachelor party last night and when I got home I realized the OEM pouch that came with my phone was gone....BLEAK!

So in the off chance that one of you Nexus One owners who don't use the pouch want to sell it to me, I'd be happy to pay top dollar for yours!

any mtn users using nexus?

my phone is working a dream, i just dont have mms setup on it yet. wouldnt mind to sneak some
settings from an mtn user
 
is there any way to buy android apps from the android store with a uk credit/debit card?

are they different from the internet ap settings? never get mms so don't know.

have you tried these settings?
 
can any nexus mtn users chime in ... have a couple quick questions

if you are an mtn nexus user, and you dial 111, does the phone dial mtn emergency 112? mine does.

and then still looking for those darn mtn mms settings :(

Yes, mine dials 112 also - I've now set it to dial 100, which works (is annoying, though, as you have to listen to the voice prompts). Can't help with the mms settings, sorry.
 
ok shew, at least i know now its not just a fault on my phone.... probably no one else in the world uses 111 to dial voicemail, and because its so close to the international emergency 112, they prob have set the phone up to dial 112 just in case you lying in a ditch with detached limbs and can barely punch in 112.
 
I've just been travelling overseas with my phone recently and the 3g up arrow getting stuck issue was really annoying me. It seems when you switch cell towers it cant handle it very well. Numerous others are having the problem on googles support website as well. Any of you guys notice that after a while your data connection gets stuck (up arrow sometimes stays stuck) and you cant access data? It rectifies itself after a while or a reboot fixes it.

I've narrowd it down to using 3G whilst moving about (switching between towers that is). Its really annoying and my only gripe with what otherwise is an awesome phone. If google does not release an update within the next month or so I'm gonna root and downgrade the radio to see if that solves it. The 3G radio does seem to be flaky to me.

what you mean by standard rom?

with this update, you will need to root your phone, cos these updates are written by people who wrote the rooted roms, they twist and tweek the original rom from google and added some stuff like having the trackball to glow in RGB colors

you can change the color to glow for the following:

sms/mms
email
phone
twitter

they do have the original update included from google, but also maximise the hardware probablity that google left out.
i am currently on CM 5.0.5.2
waiting for the next version after 5.0.5.3, cos there is not much update from 5.0.5.3...
will keep updated if there is any news after i updated it.
 
oooohhh rooted my nexus tonight and put on Desire rom... its wow
