Thanks for the tips. Much appreciated. The only problem we have is we can't use the HDD cables because the port is micro USB and not mini USB. Unless we can get hold of mini to mico usb adapters. That would be well worth it for me I'll have a car charger as well in that case.
Ah damn, I forgot the nexus is micro usb.

if you havent already, the swype beta is available for download directly on their site.
Also been trialling (is that a word) NDrive, its pretty sweet. Downloaded maps for Southern Africa which is stored on the SD card (120mb download) which can be used for 7 days and really been digging it. But once the 7 day trial is over you have to pony up 70 GBP's to purchase. sies. So please keep me posted if anyone comes across any other solution.
Oh yeah yesterday some goodies for my nexus one came through:

2) 1x rubberized snap on case: http://www.googlenexusoneaccessories.com/nexus-one-rubberized-case-8496.html

Gotta say though dudes, i've kinda changed my stance on putting on a screen protector! I'm totally confident right now that the screen won't scratch and if it drops its gonna bust anyway. But for the sake of research I'm still apply the film and let you know if it turns out better than the zagg one which was a bit of a disaster for me.
the rubberized snap on case is also very crappy, will use it for any outdoor activities i'm on like hikes and stuff, but for most of the time I'm not going to use it.
The air vent dock though is very useful. If you've ever tried to use a touchscreen phone in one hand while driving you'll know that its just not a good idea. A must have in my opinion, no more swerving out of the opposite lane for me!

Yeah I expected the case to be flexible rubber and its more like a hard plastic shell.
With Swype you're right, theres no voice input. I hardly used that feature though personally although i do enjoy voice search, which can always be accessed by holding down on the phone's search button. The trade off for the Swype functionality is more than worth it, imho.
Re: Ndrive's "extended" trial version, wow that's interesting. I'd really love to know more about that for uh, research purposes...if anyone has more information on that for me please let me know at [email protected]. WORD

one thing I forgot to add, I found a strange quirk with Swype once I installed it.
Whenever I rebooted my phone, a swype message would immediately pop up saying ""The Swype package you installed is configured for another device..." and stopped working. Only by uninstalling it and reinstalling it could I get it working again.
If this happens with any of you dudes, there's an easier way to get it working again.
This is what their site says on this issue their support FAQ:
"Q: I registered and downloaded a beta-version Swype but I get one of the following messages:
* "The Swype package you installed is configured for another device..."
* "Your Swype version has expired some functionality..."
A: On your phone, open the "Welcome to the Swype Beta" email and download the Swype-Installer again. Let it replace the existing installer and finish doing the installation again. There was an error in our previous installer version.
NOTE!!! On some phones, including the Droid and the Nexus One, this upgrade only partially fixes the issue. You may still see one of the messages above after upgrading to the newest version. The workaround is - Each time you turn on your phone, before entering text, you need to switch between the Swype Keyboard and the Android Keyboard. After switching back to the Swype Keyboard it should work fine until you reboot again. Yes, it's annoying and we're working on it - It's a beta!

is the air vent dock compatible with the iphone , the link provided shows an iphone in the dock

I'm noticing quite an annoying problem, the 3G connection just seems to go dead sometimes (cannot surf the web, shazam etc) . Even though the icon is there but no data can pass through. Only a power cycle sorts it out. Is this normal? Does it have something to do with my constant switching with APNdroid?
I'm not having that problem, but I don't have APNdroid. Did you do the update? That fixed some 3G problem.
With regards to APNdroid, I just turn off background syncing on the power widget when I'm not on wifi. Do you still need APNdroid?
APNdroid is very useful to stop things like other widgets/programmes from accessing the net and blowing your bill. Its containing my usage pretty well.
I've checked and it seems this is a common problem Most of the apps access the internet to some extent, so APNdroid is useful. The data freezes are really getting to me today. In fact as per the thread it is the update that caused this issue.
I'll just have to wait for an update. Pity because apart from this niggle the phone is something else...really blows me away.
How often are you using the internet and apps? The other guys having the problem are in US with probably unlimited data plans so switching APN's is probably not the issue, although the issue does seem to stem from switching between cell towers. They need to sort this out. If they have not in a couple of months I'm gonna root it.
