Google releasing an Operating System

Google OS

Twitter is abuzz with news that google is planning to launch an operating system based on chrome. Anyone know anything?

Who here would install an OS where you have to go online to type a Word document? Imagine how much bandwidth this OS will use...

Google can't even keep GMail up 99.9(Whatever)%, now they want our whole lives in the cloud. Crazy and impractical (at the moment).... in the future *maybe*
 
Thought they already had gOS which was based on ubuntu
 
They have been a-buzz for years now. Google have been talking about this ... well basically... forever.

Yeah it's a little strange since android is an OS for devices including netbooks, while this is a more web based OS. I see it as a traffic OS to keep people connected to google... not my cup of tea.

Not gOS, thats a different project from someone else. They have however been running a customised Ubuntu internally for years now.
