Greencom

Network is much more stable - thank you; still not getting package speed but at least this is performing well.

Just got setup via Greencom. On a 10mb line but I have a problem.

My speedtests show 10mb up and down. But surfing and downloading doesn't go above 200 MB/s.

I have a non wifi ONT modem. All the settings are default. I am testing via Ethernet.

Please share some wisdom.

Your post doesn't quite make sense.

So you have a 10Mbit line, that translates to 1.2Mbyte/s download and upload speed.
I suspect you are getting the difference between a bit and a byte confused here.

Sorry. I have a 10MB fibre which is downloading at 200kb/s.

I always screw up the terms. I trust this is now correct.

That does not sound good.

Have you tried to download from a different source - perhaps try download the latest Nvidia drivers as their server is generally very fast.
I am getting between 12 and 13Mbyte/s now while re-downloading their drivers to test my speed.

If it is still slow, trying using a download manager - something like Internet Download Manager, so that you can try download via multiple connection.

If after all of this it is still that slow, try log a support ticket with Greencom. Although you should still download at more than 200KB/s on your line from Nvidia with a normal web browser - in Opera I am getting between 10 and 11Mbyte/s

Good day all
Just a word of caution regarding greencom - utterly abysmal service and I am not even connected . Trying in vain to get back my deposit !! Avoid these people !!!
Biggest joke is I am in sunninghill gardens in which they pretend to be a *preferred* provider!

If not Greencom in Sunninghill, then which ISP do we use? I have the fibre point in my house, I just need to get connected now.

Firestream ? In sunninghill gardens and use them, must say i have been very impressed.

Had an issue where the ONT said we were connected but couldn't connect to anything. Now its up but our international speeds are not great - local is fine however

- UK

Edit: it's a bit better going to France, but still not great

Greencom are the resellers, the customer deals with Greencom not MetroFibre. Further more Greencom's support/ even feedback via email is pathetic. All they email through is payment.

I would log a compliant on Hellopeter but I have better things to do with my life... Like finding Unicorns.

I used CPA and cancelled the contract.
Using Afrihost, better support and constant connectivity.

Afrihost, on MetroFibre?

How'd you do that? Just enter PPPoE details in MetroFibre router?
Who's paying the line fees with MFN then?

Lol. Moved totally off fibre. On adsl again.

Will go back to fibre after 6 months. Hopefully quality of speeds get better.

Morning Beav
Sorry you are having such a hard time. Please let me know in a PM your details and we will refund your deposit. We have no outstanding issues at the moment so cannot trace you that way. We do not "pretend" to be a preferred provider but have a substantial client base. MFN are experiencing network issues sporadically which will apply to any provider in Sunninghill not just ourselves. We are all working actively to resolve this.

Hi Paul. Is everyone experiencing these issues equally, or relatively few customers experiencing more than others?
