Regarding the alleged American airbase, let me state for the record that the United States does not own any military base in Botswana.
In fact, during construction, the Americans publicly accused Botswana of excessive military spending and threatened to cut economic aid to Botswana. So, if the Americans built the airbase, how could they then accuse us of excessive military spending on the airbase?

The defining thing was they were tried and convicted in courts of law, for the crimes they committed, they were not detained without trial, tortured, humiliated, nor were they barred from legal council.

Catch them, try them, convict them.
That is the way it must be done, by detaining them without trial, they become living martyrs to the cause, and more and more young men and women pick up arms and perpetrate atrocities in their names, or in the name of, or for those in custody.

Well said, terrorism is a crime and should be treated that way, this "war on terror" has become an industry which it should not be.

Actually the terrorists of the 70's and 80's had an ideology, the terrorists of today have a religion, that is what makes them fundamentalist.
If you murder 1 person or 20 people you are still a murderer, if you blow up an empty building, bring down a plane or set off a number of bombs simultaneously killing thousands, you are still a terrorist, and when caught must be tried and convicted for those crimes.
The funding of today is larger, because you have believers in a religion, not believers in an ideology.
Terrorists must be tried and convicted ASAP, not detained, tortured, or held captive, that only furthers the cause.
